I worked for an attorney that did not like vacation days or Fridays at 5:00 pm. He himself had not taken a vacation in 3 years. When he finally went on a cruise, he was unable to reach his 2 secretaries, but we could email him.
I wrote the following message:
The entire office is complaining that Ana and I are on the phone constantly, chatting with everyone in the office, and spending 2 hours a day at lunch. Since we have not heard from you we are assuming either you really are enjoying yourself or your wife as thrown you overboard.
This message was cc'd to the owner and all our superiors. Everyone was cracking up.
This attorney would never have dared call me after hours or on my vacation.
