I also learn things here that I wouldn't learn anywhere else.
For instance, just today I learned that kerj2leev was tested for STDs and the results came back negative.
Where else you gonna get that kind of information? LOL!
I also learned that dawg's girlfriend was 25, not 25 years younger. LOL!

Rich:
I am fading so it isn't all in my past. But, the link is tenuous. I think you have a nostalgia for what was, namely, lost friendships. You seem deeply hurt over these people who are gone. Not to get all preachy but there is the scripture that says: there is a time to seek and a time to give up as lost. I hope you make new friends.
My reason for participating in this discussion board is because they were all about SILENCING everybody. The religion was like a dysfunctional family with all sorts of dirt that they want hidden from people. Now, we can shout from the rooftops and tell the whole world (or whoever cares) all about what really goes on in this secret religion that has two faces: one it shows to its members and one it shows to the world. They may have wanted us to go out preaching but it was a canned speech.

Richard: My daughter first found an ex-JW discussion board in 1997. I found it fascinating. Then I found the posters to be interesting and fun. It made me feel less alone in the world. In 1979, when I left, it was really hard to connect with others going through the same trauma.
I have learned a lot from other posters and hope I have something to contribute to help others along the way. There is an incredible wealth of experience, knowledge and wisdom among the good folks who post here. It is wonderful to partake of real wisdom instead of contrived legalistic cult nonsense.

What Is Your Motivation Regarding The Board?
Admittedly, this board has a psychological pull for me linking me to my past.
Personally, I find comfort with those individuals in which I have this common-
ality of having been in a similar situation regarding the Watchtower Society. What are your reasons for taking part in this discussion board?
Respectfully,
Richard
Sometimes, I think I am just lazy and unmotivated. Comming here is like watching T.V. Light and fluffy. I used to go to the Yahoo Harley Davidson board but that fell apart. Sometimes I go to the Yahoo Ford bord, but the only thing they talk about is what a dingbat Bush is. I kind of want to get to 5,000 post. I am goal orientated. Since I was a witnoid and read the wactower for 33 years, I think sometimes I have something to say. The only way to erradicate 33 years as a Dub is with a frontal labotomy or a bottle in front of me.
