Welcome Franzy!!!! Boy, did you pick a hum-dinger of a subject, to make your entrance in!!!

Kinda like parachuting into the zoo. You choose to land in the lions den, instead of the children's petting area.

Good Luck! I'm leaving now. Wanna come with me??

dear john consider taking some of the sensitivity you expressed on your "dark" thread and use it to erase the nastiness you've shown on this one.

Feel free to cite where I've been nasty, and where you disagree with me.

My morals or lack thereof or their source have nothing to do with this discussion. Do you disagree that using services that you are supposed to pay for while avoiding payment is wrong? That is a yes or no question.

Furthermore, you cite your reason for non payment of taxes as being because you don't agree with government policy regarding the war and civil freedoms. Can you please explain to us how not paying your taxes changes policies regarding either. Can you please explain why I and other taxpayers should support you by paying for services that you use, or why you feel entitled to these services with no payment.

excepting John Doe of course who pays twenty per-cent more than demanded just to prove his loyalty to the flag.

An elder in my old hall would not claim any deductions on his federal income tax. He would claim all his dependants, but he would not take his house interest deduction, no deductions for medical or any other legimate claim.

He somehow felt it might be considered cheating Cesar out of his due. It drove his wife crazy, to say the least.

It is all points of view really, I don't like the way the government waste money in many ways but for most part on the war machine and its imperialistic goals.

So, how exactly does not paying your taxes change government policy? If you want to disagree with the federal government, then fine. How are you working to change it? And once again, why should taxpayers support your lifestyle when you pay nothing?

I'm going to make a generalization, and everyone here can choose to agree with it or not, I don't care. Any one who does not pay their taxes but is a citizen has absolutely no freaking business complaining about government waste or government policy.

I used to have a friend who was a Libertarian, he used to make much of the fact that at the beginning of the tax booklet you get in the mail, there is a phrase that goes something like this: "millions of Americans voluntarily pay their taxes each year". He stressed the 'voluntary' part, saying it was not required. This same guy used to give me 'Social Insecurity' cards, printed to look like the real thing, but actually a protest about the sorry state of the social security system, which I liked and kept a few of. You can say what you like, disagree with how the money is spent, or whatever...freedom of speech is in the constitution, but if you don't pay your taxes, expect to end up in court.

Of course if you're rich, you can pay a flock of CPAs to do your taxes for you, and find every loophole in the book. That's perfectly legal, even though I think it's a crock. Which is why I'm a proponent of a flat tax system, make it so the average person can actually do their own taxes, and the rich have no loopholes. Put the lawyers out of business.
