Jesus was subjected to torture, brutal beatings and much more. He also suffered from Hematirosis, a condition that we could not even understand today.
Welcome to the board....
Don't mean to be frivolous...each persons faith rises to their own expectations, but tell me, how was Jesus suffering any different than what countless others have suffered through out the ages? Is he the only person, male, or female I might add, that was ever subjected to tortue, brutal beatings and that ever so vauge "much more", past, present, or future?

God is the binding 'AGENT' , I truly hope. The one subject that continues to connect us is the absolute terror Jesus went through, was subjected too, and ultimately died for, that allows us to communicate at this time in history.
If you are here thinking that GOD is the binding agent of this board, you should be aware that you are in mixed company.
There are many ''god fearing christians'' here, but,
There are athiests and agnostics here as well. There are even non JW's here. Most of us are EX-JW's.
It is perculiar that you chose to focus on the brutality of what Jesus went through, instead of his message (insert your interpretation here).
Welcome to the JWD forum.
If you are an active witness, we hope you stay and read. :) There is a lot for you to learn here.

Dear Friends:
Thank you for the sources of information regarding
this subject matter. In particular, Atlantis for
having me recall that particular study article.
Thanks for the link to the scan.

Dear Torn,
WELCOME to the forum!! We appreciate your first post, as you are right, none of us could even begin to imagine the physical and mental anguish that Jesus went through, and the incredibale pain his father must have gone through in watching his son bear up under all of this. What love indeed!! We look forward to hearing more from you!!
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty

Welcome to the board. I am an atheist ex-Jehovist (not that there's anything wrong with that).
A forensic study such as you suggest would require the corpus delecti, wouldn't it?

Dear Wanderer,
I first heard this information in a talk by a circuit overseer from Australia around 18 years ago. It fascinated me then, and always has. I researched the information periodically thru encyclopedia, WTBS info. etc.. I just purchased a book at 'Borders' titled "The Crusifixion of Jesus Christ-A Forensic Inquiry". The first portion of the book is an explanation of Hematidrosis.
Thanks

To the topic, please keep in mind that this part of the story is only found in some manuscripts of (only) Luke's Gospel (22:43f) and bears all the marks of a later addition to it, with a rather obvious anti-docetic purpose (i.e., to show that Jesus was really human and not merely "in the likelessness of flesh," as the earlier Pauline Christology would have it, cf. Romans 8:3; Philippians 2:7).
