Do you mean watered rather than fertilized?

I'd guess that just because there was no rain, that doesn't mean there was no humidity. Also, there would be enough water in the ground for plants to drink up.

And perhaps mankind watered their crops too - they wouldn't have been doing large scale farming, probably enough to feed themselves, like allotments today.

Rrain does not fertilize the vegetation, but the lightning that occurs puts a tiny amount of nitrogen into the soil, The link shows that bacteria is one natural non man made ways that the ground is fertilzed. decaying plant matter also fertilizes the ground.
