    Welcome, Mrbloo!!!

Also from the UK, despite appearances to the contrary!!

Death or rather the fear of death is the tool that the WT society uses to keep its slaves in check! Most non JWs spend their lives working towards the different stages of their lives and gradually accepting that, if all goes to plan, when they are very old they WILL die!!!! It is after all inevitable!

The WT society holds out the impossible dream to its slaves and that is what keeps them captive.

When I first faded from the bOrg, realising that I was going to die was the first thing that hit me! Believe me, time helps you to adjust and get your head round the fact that you will die and your loved ones will die. In the end, we all lose everything and leave as we came, with nothing!

But who is to say that we don't live again, aren't reincarnated, don't get to sit on a cloud and spit on the people down below?

Death leads to the next great adventure! If we get to move on and live again, well cool! If we don't, well we won't be bothered and will never know anyway! Make them most of the adventure we have now! Live and love every day as if it were your last! We're all 'terminal' it's just we choose not to understand that.

The day I lost the fear of death was the day I started to live!

I hope you too will find that peace in time!

    Good Luck MrBloo!

The only thing to fear is fear itself!

Welcome to the forum, both Mr.Bloo and Emptywords!

Mr. Bloo -- about those dark days: I don't know you personally, so I can only guess - but being raised a JW and being in it for two decades of my adult life, I can say that the JW organization tried to insulate us from reality and from the outside world. The reality is that we are mortal. They tried to shield that by saying WE were special and WE could cheat death by carrying out Jehovah's will as defined by their literature. When we found out that was all a lie, then for the first time we must face the fact that life is temporary. It's not an easy fact, and one that causes many people to turn to religion and / or superstitious ideas that somehow we DO live forever in some form - which may or may not be the case. Nobody can prove it with certainty, not even the world's smartest religious MENSA member. It takes a while to come to grips with mortality, but eventually that settles down and we can concentrate on living the best we can for the remaining decades (hopefully) of the life we know we have.

Also they tried to insulate us from the outside world, causing a kind of social backwardness and awkwardness. When I was a young school-going JW, I really was afraid to form close friendships with schoolmates because they were "worldly" and could possibly stumble us, and also because the end was so near that why invest a lot of time in a friendship that would end soon at Armageddon anyhow. So I always felt like an outsider because I never really began to integrate socially with my peers. Even though I have left JW's behind for several years, I still carry the feeling of an 'outsider' even when people are trying to accept and interact with me. Again, I think slowly my old mindset of distrust has melted away and I can be myself around workmates and friends - but for some reason I still feel the hurt of being left out from before and carry that with me.

That being said, I"m glad this board is here to have had a place to meet and interact with folks who know what being a JW is like and know the path outside of it is bumpy (especially at first).

Emptywords - Welcome! You are not alone! It is a pretty poo poo organization, isn't it! You know what! You don't have to stay in it either! Trust your instincts and take your chance to escape!

    Hi and welcome Mr Bloo

I was inactive for many years when I found this site by chance, I was blown away by the information and support here. I wish it had been around when I was "fresh out". I also read lots of profiles and stories, (saved them in my favourites for later!)

I'm also from Scotland, but don't live there anymore.

    Cheers

    D :)

    Welcome, mrbloo and emptywords

    To find local ex-jws:

    Map: http://www.frappr.com/xjws

    Meetup Sites: http://exjw.meetup.com/

As for reading the whole site, how? I suggest rather you read first Lady Lee's compilation of our best, here:

I was wondering if anyone knows if the elders get others to spy on you or ask questions and get them to report to them

They don't have to, really. There's been so many talks lately to watch out for their own members who might not be as loyal, the congregations practically to the elder's work for them.

As for waiting for the elders to be just like their god, don't frustrate yourself. Some people are favored over others, so it's obviously a man-made organization. I think you would be happier concentrating on your own integrity. I don't see why you have to cater to this silly woman, at all.

Welcome mrbloo - you're definitely not alone. There are many in the same boat - in fact it's a pretty big boat coz there are loads of us!!

Expect life to get better the longer you are away - especially once you start researching and find out THE TRUTH about "the truth". Good luck with that!
