Hannah, I have a similar story. My mother is still living and I starded a normal relationship with her for about 3 years now. My dad is not to happy about that but I don't care any more. My dad used to beat the crap out of me and then he would quote the bible "beat your child he will not die". I forgive him now. He used to intimidate me but now I pity him.

It's very difficult to shake the extremely bitter feelings I have. I am having a really hard time getting over it and if anyone has any suggestions on how to do this please share with the rest of us.
Hannah, it's not easy but what helps me is this right here, talking about it. I do read a lot of books on psychology and mind control(Steven Hassan's books are very good) and if you could afford it some therapy could help.
