It examines a tomb that, it is claimed, belonged to Jesus and his family, and was found in Jerusalem in 1980. The Oscar-winning director of Titanic says statistical analysis and DNA show the tomb is that of Jesus. Archaeologists say that the burial cave is probably that of a Jewish family with similar names to Jesus's family. Out of the box Construction workers building an apartment complex in east Talpiot, Jerusalem, first uncovered 10 2,000-year-old ossuaries - or limestone coffins - in a tomb in March 1980. According to the Israel Antiquities Authority, six of those coffins were marked with the names Mary; Matthew; Jesua son of Joseph; Mary; Jofa (Joseph, Jesus' brother); and Judah son of Jesua. The filmmakers used this finding to claim that the coffin marked "Judah son of Jesua" contains the son of Jesus and Mary. But they say the discovery of the tomb does not mean that Jesus was not resurrected three days after his death - a key Christian belief. Israeli archaeologist Amos Kloner says the names marked on the coffins were very common at the time. Film director James Cameron produced the documentary "I don't accept the news that it was used by Jesus or his family," he told the BBC News website. "The documentary filmmakers are using it to sell their film." Mr Cameron will show two of the coffins at a news conference in New York on Monday. "It doesn't get bigger than this," he said in a press release. "We've done our homework; we've made the case; and now it's time for the debate to begin." Local residents said they were pleased with the attention the tomb has drawn. "It will mean our house prices will go up because Christians will want to live here," one woman said.   Those names were very common as pointed out by an archaeologist, Jesus died before he had a chance to produce a family. Had he lived that long after around 30 AD we would have known it.

  I found this interesting:

  Whatever the truth about who was in the coffins I like to imagine Jesus and Mary Magdalene were a real couple as this indicates the importance of women rather than the centuries old teachings of how they should be subservient (and not just in the Christian faith).

  If only...

  If only...

  But, these "finds" are always turning up and causing an uproar only to be debunked (quietly).

  Look how long the Shroud of Turin was bandied about. The fact it was eventually conclusively proved to be a fake has had much less press.

  The tomb of James was found and debunked a year or two ago.

  The recent Gospel of Judas is the more recent headline splash.

  Keep in mind that pious fraud has been an industry from about the 1st century. It is big business.

  Yes Terry, and this will prove to be yet another example of it. It will be good for the tourist business for a few years, as I doubt it will be debunked quickly, and when it is there will be far less hullabaloo about the disproving than there was at the "discovery".

  I always was under the impression Jesus was buried in Joseph of Arimathea's tomb, therefore not in a/the family tomb.

  This is usual for the human animal to dismiss to save his or her illusion of reality

  Interesting, I wonder how that works. I think what they mean is that the DNA found there proves that the people that were laid there were of Middle Eastern descent. It always amazes me how on this type of show they can have so little that is actual fact yet milk an hour or two out of what they have. Anyway some of these types of show are fun to watch and I have already made up my mind to believe anything they say on this one.
