Has anyone here been involved or know anything about clinical drugs testing and trials? I'd just like to gather as much information as I can before I go ahead. Am interested in info both sides of the Atlantic. What are the pros and cons in your opinion.

Obviously I'm not doing this purely for the good of humanity - its mainly to supplement my income so I can support myself. And if it doesnt pay much well heck I'll probably be too ill to eat! (Just kidding)

I know a brother who did it regularly and is still as healthy as ever - he got paid very well. However I wouldn't recommend it - anything can happen

I think you should read this before making up your mind:

Obviously this isn't what regularly happens, but how can you be sure before embarking along these lines. I think there are better ways of making money.

    Best wishes in your venture,

Thanks fokyc for the link - obviously this was a very high profile case and not the norm. I think mainly I would be testing toiletries and cosmetics and ocassionally medication like asthma medication etc - nothing which requires an overnight sdtay at the clinic so it should be fairly low risk.

I agree Bernadette there are better ways of earning money, but on the other hand I already work full time 40 hours, study 20 hours and there's not a lot of time for another job but I do need to find a way of making some extra cash as will end up in massive debt just for trying to pay bills and I've spent since I left home at 16 just scraping enough to get by and support myself and still got into tremendous debt. So I am looking at lots of different ways and its a good idea to accumulate as much info on anything i do before doing it.

thank you for the cautions and advice. I do tend to be a bit naive about these things - like when I went for an internview to be an escort girl thinking I was going to be going to the ballet and the opera and getting paid for it! Silly silly me!

I'm laughing and worried for you at the same time, girly!

I work in clinical research, admin and coordination with clinical trials and other projects. What are you doing??

A Phase I trial is when they test the drug on people to basically make sure it doesn't kill you, or make a person seriously ill. These trials are done on healthy volunteers. YOU?!

i am hurt that you would laugh at me and my money masterminding skills! LOL! And What are you trying to say with this:

These trials are done on healthy volunteers. YOU?!

Just because I spent a lot of time enduring maladies last year doesnt mean I'm not healthy! It means I have had practice at being sick!

I forgot you worked in that field - you probably cant answer this but - Have any people actually died or lost any limbs? half the time surely I will be testing placebos anyway?

LOL! I know you're healthy! God, I didn't realize how bad those typed words of mine actually look!

I meant that it is a risk to your health...why bother? I know, I know, the money. But the thought of YOU participating in such a thing concerns me. I have not heard of anything bad happening, but it can happen. They usually test enough in mice or beagles before testing on humans.

There is a billboard up on the highway I use to commute to work... I see it every day: www.TestWithTheBest.com

Sorry, but I would not allow myself to be tested on.
