American and Iraqi officials have long accused Iran of interfering in this country’s internal affairs, but have rarely produced evidence. The administration presented last week’s arrests as a potential confirmation of the link.

Spin to suggest that high ranking iranian miltary personel are directing attacks against iraqis and/or american forces. Spin designed to make iran look instigatorial, so that american officials need not talk to iran.

American forces stopped an official Iranian Embassy car carrying the two Iranian diplomats, one or two Iranian guards and an Iraqi driver.
The arrests were made inside the house of Hadi al-Ameri, the chairman of the Iraqi Parliament’s security committee and leader of the Badr Organization, the armed wing of Mr. Hakim’s political party.

So, they sieze iranian diplomats as they are traveling and barge into the iraqi officials home to arrest his guests. The official is a moderate and american forces have embarrased him. From where did american forces recieve the 'intelligence' on which they acted, israel?

We all know that as soon as Christmas is over more troops are going to be sent to Iraq. This will only strengthen the reasoning put out by the Bush Administration as to why they are needed. Who knows what Iran will do with the U.S./Iraq holding it's citizens?????

What I'm saying is either they did capture senior Iranian military, or they didn't.

Is this the news or your take on it?

Israel last year set a deadline that if the Iranian nuclear issue wasn't settled they would take out Iran's nukes. The deadline came and went. Why didn't Israel act.

Israel has stated that they take Ahmidinijead at his word that he intends to destroy them. Do you think they will just wait and allow it to happen?

There is a plan in place. Every one wonders why Bush has America in Iraq and why he doesn't have a plan. Well the US has a plan, one they aren't sharing with the world. The plan is Iran. Iran is the real target. The US now has a large military force on Iran's border and an even larger one at sea. Why do you think they fought in Iraq with mostly National Gaurd troops? The regular forces are reserved for something bigger.

There will be war with Iran you can count on it. If Iran was to succeed in uniting the Muslim nations against the west, developing and sharing nuclear technology, Israel can be kissed goodbye and other western nations would be in grave danger, even the US.

The farsighted individuals in the US government know this and don't intend to let it happen. They just need publicly justifyable reasons to act. So don't be surprised when they present their case. After Iraq they will be more thorough in making a case for war.

    Merry Christmas

Yes, american soldiers did, and then iraqi govt immediately returned them to the iranian embassy. What does that tell you?

It's in the drudge report that you referenced. It didn't exactly say that they barged in, but it said that the iraqi official was not happy because of the siezures in his home. Arabs take their homes and hospitality very seriously. He was embarrased because of it. He was seeking iranian cooperation in solving some problems. This action makes american forces look like a bull in a china shop.

Satanus, Thanks. The link didn't work when I found it.

Woodsman, I totally agree with you. There is plenty we don't know. We now have two borders (Iraq & Afganastan) with Iran.
