Do elders 'frighten' you?

Actually when my husband was still an elder he said:

    "You scare the elders."

The only power the elders have over you is the power you give them. You don't have to talk to them ever. And if you live with your mom and she is a JW, have a plan of action if she should ever invite them in to talk to you without your permission.

Do you have a car? If so, just put on your jacket and say, "Have an appointment to go to." and make like a tree, leave.

I've been through the fear. Now? No they don't frighten me, they don't make me tremble.
    I simply don't care.

At one point I said to myself:

"Your status as an elder or ms or pioneer or jw means nothing to me anymore. You can not do this to me any longer."

And ya know it sort of poofed away. The next time I saw an elder (at the grocery store with his wife) he gave me an evil ass look. Ya know the evil eye? And I felt nothing. I looked him in the eye and looked away. Sad, but no fear.

    You'll get stronger. ((((hugs))))
