You are in the same predicament that I was in a couple years ago.
Don't give them the pleasure of seeing you come back. Anything but, go to a church of your choice, pray to our Lord to guide you to one of the myriad of pleasant places to find out about God. Not everyone agrees with literal fundamentalism, so dont let some of the details in the Bible disrupt your excursion into Christianity.
The more people that leave this bunch the more want to leave. THIS is what is working, working so well that some of the Big Shots see the 'writing on the wall', 'mene, mene, teke parsin'!
