    Vitty,

I'd be furious too. I bet those same JW's will be in first in line if there is anything left for them from your aunt.

JW's are such a selfish bunch of people, always expecting others to accomodate them but never returning the favor.

My mom said something along these same lines to my son. She said if he ever got married in a Church, she would not attend. His rebuttal was, I wouldn't invite you anyway because all you would do is preach.

Vitty, I'm very sorry about your aunt. I'd be really angry too. The witnesses are arrogant and downright rude when it comes to pushing their beliefs on others, and ahead of others beliefs.

I think your aunt should carry on with her own arrangements, the others can do as they please. Hopefully, their love of family, with override their love of "truth". Sometimes it does happen.

My parents went to my cousin's wedding a couple years back, drove 3 hours to the church, then stood outside on the steps for the ceremony. I never heard of anything so ridiculous...I laughed my ass off at them. Then they didn't even go to the reception....What's that scripture that talks about them, "swallowing down the camel, to spit out the gnat"????

The only possible way to get through to a JW in a situation like this would be to say something along these lines:

Listen, this is what Auntie specified as her own wishes for her funeral. How unloving and disrespectful would it be to disregard her final wishes, when she has trusted us to fulfill them? It would be like you, one of Jehovah's Witnesses, asking to have your WTS Infomercial Memorial Serviceā„¢ at the Kingdom Hall, and the rest of us deciding that we wanted it somewhere else. If you want to boycott her funeral, that's your choice, but her wishes will be carried out whether you like it or not.

They definitely would go, but would make a big thing about standing outside so ppl can see them

I was talking to my witness sister whilst I was still in about attending my niece's wedding in church and I said that I wanted to see her marry the man she loved because I loved her......................her reply?.......................well I love Jehovah more............I didnt know how to respond but I just knew in my heart she was dead WRONG.

Just spoke to my other sister and apparently shes looking into a humanist funeral...............does anyone know where the WT stands on this ?

That is the point, non witnesses are the better person in many circumstances because they put the JWs feelings above their own. Something a witness would never do.

They take pride in making a stand, it makes them feel spiritually superior and it gives them browny points with the big "J"

JW's are such a selfish bunch of people, always expecting others to accomodate them but never returning the favor.

This pretty much says it all. This feeling of JW smug superiority and their demands on how "others" should conduct their religious affairs, certainly doesn't go very far when it comes to gaining recruits though, does it?
