As a j-dub, how did you react to christian music?

As a JW I don't think I ever listened to any Christian music. There were no Christian music stations around, and I never went in any Christian stores that carried the music. I heard the odd song on TV. I always loved the song Amazing Grace, it always brings a tear to my eye and when it is sung really well, gives me goose bumps.

I now listen to Christian music quite a bit and really enjoy it. My mother and sister think I'm a big bad apostate for having those CD's in my house. They didn't like it when I sang along at my uncle's funeral either. I don't care anymore what they think.

I loved Stryper when I was growing up and actually my parents encouraged their music.

They had this beautiful song.... Honestly.

Other then that I didn't really discover Christian music until I left the jdubs. And truthfully, despite my doubts about Jesus and all that, the music is really well done.

There is one artist, Sarah Kelly, who is awesome. She sort of has a Janis Joplin approach to music.
