Ok Adam and Eve sinned by eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and bad.

Why weren't they allowed to eat from the tree of knowledge? Isn't knowledge a good thing?

I am one of those people who can't stand not knowing the answers to everything. I need to know what when where and why.

King Solomon was very wise ( but it seemed to be ok for him) Except when this knowledge led him to worship other Gods. So was he really so smart after all?

Because smart people don't want to worship a god. (at least, that seemed to be his fear)

Ever hear of Dr. Faustus? :-)

That's why the Adam/Eve/Eden/serpent story works well as a myth -- it depicts the conflict between innocence and knowledge. The pre-apple innocents are unaware of evil, thereby making them easy prey for the serpent, yet when they awaken to their true state, they must bear the consequences of their knowledge, too. It's a story plot that has repeated itself throughout history. Knowledge is not wrong in itself, but it imposes a burden of responsibility on the one who possesses it.

Because knowledge allows you to ask better informed question thats why.

You the one know can answer easily.

Like if I have a card that says what ever is on the backside of this card is the truth, and on the backside says what ever is on the front is a lie. Which side is right?

The Garden of Eden account with it's epic tale of a talking snake, and naked people eating fruit should be given the same intrigue as a Harry Potter book or Marvel Comics.

Knowledge if freedom. The "Society" can't allow that because then who would follow them? Thus they beat this story

into the minds of their believers so that they will believe that it is wrong to question and to think for one's self.

This really sums it up quite succintly. Knowledge is a threat to indoctrination. It's the bleach that kills the bacteria.

When you want to control people, you start by controling what they know and learn. Knowledge is Power! Lack of knowledge is weakness! So you do the math, was God in that story wanting his people to be smart and powerful (which would be hard to control) or was he wanting them to be weak and stupid (So that they would do exactly what he said, without question).

Knowledge in itself isn't wrong, but the wts wants to control the sort of knowledge jws take in.

For example, they restrict access to older publications, with good reason from their standpoint, if some dubs saw how the doctrine has changed over the years, they'd be less likely to stay in the org. They know how much information is available on the internet, so they advise jws to limit their use of it.

The less knowledge dubs have or have access to, the less likely they are to question things. The gb want to keep it that way.

    Why is knowledge wrong?

Knowledge isn't wrong. It wasn't going to be withheld.

The Tree of Knowledge represented a choice of submission to the Law of their Creator. God being the Creator of all things determines the law by which it all operates.

When everyone decides to determine their own laws, order disappears. Without submission to law (especialy God's law) there is chaos and destruction. The condition of human society today sadly proves this.

When the cells in our bodies all conform to the law of how they should operate, we're healthy and fine. When they don't, we suffer and DIE.
