I haven't heard that, but the Catholic Jerusalem bible is one of the translations that has jehovahs name in it.

Sure, or at least maybe.. I do not think that any informed dub would find this to be in least surprising. They do not claim to have invented it or have it exclusively.

Since any Christian religion before the reformation was by necessity Catholic - i guess that it would be the case.

The Catholic Encyclopedia has a good article on it.

Yes, it is a catholic invention, as stated in the wt's own aid book, pages 884, 885:

By combining the vowel signs of 'Adho

?n ay' and 'Elo ? him' with the four consonants of the Tetragrammaton the pronunciations Yeho ?w ah' and Yehowih' were formed. The first of these provided the basis for the Latinized form "Jehova (h)." The first recorded use of this form dates from the thirteenth century C .E . Raymundus Martini, a Spanish monk of the Dominican Order, used it in his book Pugeo Fidei of the year 1270 .

The form "Jehova" can be traced to the "Pugeo Fide" of 1 270 C .E . In this copy, it appears in the fourth line from the bottom

My wife is an ex-catholic, and she assures me that she was taught in Grade School that the name of God was Jehovah. This was taught to her in a chatholic school by a nun. Unfortunately, she states that no one used that name in the "church" after her fourth grade!

The Jerusalem Bible actually uses "Yahweh" (Yahve in the French edition).

An earlier French Catholic translation (1905), by Canon Auguste Crampon, used "Jehovah" throughout. It was re-printed several times in the last decades, mostly for the JW public.

(I don't use accented letters anymore because of the current JWD bug which rejects them.)

So what? What's your point? What's the big deal? Or in your case how are you going to use this to talk bad about them?
