What do you think are some songs that will never grow old with time, get jaded, and people will never get tired of listening to them?
I can think right now of:

    strangers in the night
    chain melody
she (Elvis Costello but French original)
    isla bonita
    sway (quien sera)
    sealed with a kiss

    Over The Rainbow

    (Arlen-Harburg)

    Somewhere over the rainbow
    Way up high
    There's a land that I heard of
    Once in a lullaby

    Somewhere over the rainbow
    Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
    Really do come true

Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
    Where troubles melt like lemondrops
    Away above the chimney tops
    That's where you'll find me

    Somewhere over the rainbow
    Bluebirds fly
    Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
    Where troubles melt like lemondrops
    Away above the chimney tops
    That's where you'll find me

    Somewhere over the rainbow
    Bluebirds fly
    Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?

    If happy little bluebirds fly
    Beyond the rainbow
    Why, oh why can't I?

I'll never get tired of listening to Carole Kings' Tapestry album. It's been a favourite of mine for 35 years.

I think people will still be listening to songs by people like Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and the Beatles for many years yet.

Wow Purple Sofa those are beautiful lyrics, one of the most famous songs of the 1930's, memories of Judy Garland and the "Wizard of Oz", I wish there were such lyrics in modern songs.

PAPA DONT PREACH (MADONNA) Papa I know you're going to be upset
'Cause I was always your little girl
But you should know by now
    I'm not a baby

You always taught me right from wrong
I need your help, daddy please be strong
I may be young at heart
But I know what I'm saying

The one you warned me all about
The one you said I could do without
We're in an awful mess, and I don't mean maybe - please

    Chorus:

Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
But I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby, oh
I'm gonna keep my baby, mmm...

He says that he's going to marry me
We can raise a little family
    Maybe we'll be all right
    It's a sacrifice

But my friends keep telling me to give it up
Saying I'm too young, I ought to live it up
What I need right now is some good advice, please

    (chorus)

Daddy, daddy if you could only see
Just how good he's been treating me
You'd give us your blessing right now
'Cause we are in love, we are in love, so please

    (chorus)

Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
    (repeat)

Oh, I'm gonna keep my baby, ooh
Don't you stop loving me daddy
I know, I'm keeping my baby

I'll never get tired of listening to Carole Kings' Tapestry album. It's been a favourite of mine for 35 years.

    Same here

I think it is the only album....I have had as album, 8track, cassette, and CD .....I am listening to it now.

Carole King - Way Over Yonder

Way over yonder is a place that I know
Where I can find shelter from hunger and cold
And the sweet tasting good life is easily found
Way over yonder - that's where I'm bound
I know when I get there, the first thing I'll see
Is the sun shining golden - shining right down on me
Then trouble's gonna lose me - worry leave me behind
And I'll stand up proudly in true peace of mind
Way over yonder is a place I have seen
In a garden of wisdom from some long ago dream
May be tomorrow I'll find my way
To the land where the honey runs in rivers each day
And the sweet tasting good life is so easily found
Way over yonder - that's where I'm bound
Way over yonder - that's where I'm bound

SMILE Smile though your heart is aching Smile even though its breaking When there are clouds in the sky, youll get by If you smile through your fear and sorrow Smile and maybe tomorrow Youll see the sun come shining through for you Light up your face with gladness Hide every trace of sadness Although a tear may be ever so near Thats the time you must keep on trying Smile, whats the use of crying? Youll find that life is still worthwhile If you just smile Thats the time you must keep on trying Smile, whats the use of crying? Youll find that life is still worthwhile If you just smile
