  I agree with jgnat - the UN has been consistent and and helpful in this matter, and should now be left in peace - unlike the WTBTS, who has been the opposite.

  I feel for all the R&F who are totally unaware of what happened (and are being made fools of, in my opinion), who are condemning the UN (as they have been taught to), not realising their leaders were prosituting themselves to it.

  I'm all in favour for a standard letter to be produced and distributed to certain members of EVERY Congregation - as I believe EVERYONE has a RIGHT to be in full possession of facts - and I know that here in UK, R&F are ignorant of this whole matter.

  Not only in the UK is the R & F ignorant of the UN matter.

  About two years ago two JW "publishers" and an "elder" came to my house and I inquired about the UN issue. They knew nothing about it and even denied it happened.
  
  I wrote the branch office. And ofcourse I got the usual falacious crap answer.

  The WT is an evil slave. They divide families, destroy family lives, blame the "brothers" for their own mistakes. They lie theocratic war strategy and prostitute themselves.

  How can such evil control so many people? Isn't it a shame?

  Why didn't anyone think to ask for a blank copy of the 1991 form the Society would have used???

  I said and I quote: "Better yet there must be other organizations that joined in that year both before and after the WTS, maybe one of them could be persuaded to produce a copy of their form. "

  Yes I read the UN letter but it does not address the issue. The issue hinges on what was on that 1991 form and what the standard was for NGO's in 1991.

  The silence from both the Society and the UN makes me think there's something else going on here. We don't have the whole story.

  The Watchtower's letter to you dated September 20, 2005 completely fails to address the facts and issue in question, ie, that the Society knew exactly what obligations they would be expected to carry out as an NGO to the DPI. Even if we given them the benefit of the doubt and allow that they may not have been fully apprised of what they were getting into when they initially applied, it is undeniable that they were given information from the UN setting out all the duties and obligations of an NGO immediately after. The UN's official letter re the WT Society on their website starkly points this out and is damning to the Society's pleas of ignorance. It doesn't matter a jot that the actual 1991 application 'contains no statements that conflict with our Christian beliefs' because it is clearly the act of applying in the first place that is the conflict, not the words on the forms. We could compare their argument to a JW joining the YMCA or the Republican party and then later saying they are not guilty because the initial application form had nothing offensive on it. In any event, the evidence is there that the Society knew full well through information they received shortly after (by letter and an information pack sent to all applicants), and on an ongoing basis, of what being an NGO involved, ie, to publicize UN material and submit regular reports back to the UN to prove it was doing just that - which they undeniably did. This is why they refuse to open their files.
  
  What is especially disgusting in the letter is the allusion to the infamous Awake article that appeared around 1991/92 that talked about how 'the UN will soon play a powerful role in the fulfillment of God's purpose'. It has been revealed by Barbara Anderson (former Headquarters worker) that this particular Awake article was written by Ciro Aulicino (the Society's UN rep and one of the original signatories on the application) and commissioned by the late Lloyd Barry (the other signatory on the application) for the purpose of submitting the article to the DPI as proof of meeting NGO status criteria. There is no doubt this is what their own files reveal.
  
  In short, it is not the 'opposers' who are presenting 'distorted claims' and 'false premises', it is the Society itself. They are hypocrites and liars.

  Lady Liberty: I sent the last copy of my letter to the Society along with a copy of all my correspondence as well as proof to them that the WT had joined for more reasons than a Library card. I sent them the UN documentation of being at the Nicaragua "Blood Fest" in the year 2000 also.

  I never did receive a reply from the WT. I sent copies to Bro. Nonkes, Secretary of the Ch.Cong of JW's, as well as Bro. Bill Van Der Wall, President. I had known both of those two brothers for 30 and 15 years respectively, and did NOT hear back from them either. (Jerks)

  The body of elders framed me. I quit going to the KH in June of 2005. I told one elder, a 'friend' that I was concerned about Memorial in the spring of '06. I told him we would probably just have our own with our family. Following Memorial, he came by my house with another elder and asked what we did for memorial. My wife told them that we had our own. That was all they wanted to hear. Then they charged us with apostasy and disfellowshipped us basically for starting our own religion, I guess.

  Three of my children left with my wife and I, and sorry to say, we have one son, an elder in Austin, Texas, that hates us, thinks were demonized and wouldn't have a lunch with his mom last month when she visited Austin. Very loving religion.

  Frank 75--Enjoyed your input. They don't believe we are worth talking to, let alone explaining their actions to.

  By the way, I appreciated the references to the UN NGO application form, and I agree. It is not what was on the form that was in violation of anything, it was the act of filling out a form to be an NGO, Which they condemned other religions for for decades!!!! Hypocrites.

  Nice. Whatever happened to " For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there I am in their midst" ?
