... hmm, actually I think I dealt with this. I used to be a bit weird in that I'd walk around the place looking every person in the eye and smiling. These days, out of the risk that one of them might be a jw ghost-friend, I look right through everybody. It's kind of disconnecting, but it's created a safety barrier.
I don't get how they can shun people who aren't official. I've heard of 'marking', but a lot of people don't know what it means and take it all the way.
