    As for keeping sheep for meat and leather, don't forget that with a world population of 4, this group would surely be at the hunter/gatherer phase of development. Meat and leather can much more easily be obtained by hunting (especially in a world with only 4 human predators) than by raising them.

    The story itself is a sentimental lament by the nomadic shepherds and herdsmen, complaining about how they were being pushed out by agriculture. Notice that the shepherd was the good guy, but the farmer was the bad guy. The story dates many, many, centuries later than the bible credits it.
