Can you get those small cloth bags with barley or wheat grain in where you are?
They're usually put in the microwave to warm up but retain cold equally well if you put them in the freezer for a couple of hours. Then you can put it in the bed to keep you cooler till you get to sleep.
Avon's 'Forest Fresh' oil spray mist is an excellent mozzie repellent! (MUST be the oil spray though, none of the rest of the range works)
