You might have been overjoyed but I will bet the people in "virgin country" were a little pissed off at all the new found attention..

    No doubt about that...

I never did "street witnessing" when I was a dub. Did anyone actually have someone approach them to get literature?

They just still dont get how completely useless their methods of propaganda distribution are. Street witnessing is a joke, standing their like a complete arse with the magazines. I would be amazed if they ever place anything like that...

Standing on corners laughing and conversating among themselves as people walk right by.

    Damn skippy. LOL.

I lived in a small town, and street witnessing was looked down on as though you were trying to be lazy. When I reg. Pio'd, it was door to door all morning and RVs all afternoon.

I did street witness back when I was pioneering, usually from 7 to 9. That was the sweet spot, because you could go down to the corner, get some coffee, eat a donut, stand around holding magazines up. Sometimes I'd forget what I was there about... it was that easy. Of course, I looked like an idiot, but hey, i was doing it for Jehawbweh! This was the only way i got my time in. Every once in a while some people would approach me and talk, a lot of nice people ho actually treated me like a human - even some people offering me coffee inside the cafe. But then i also had this veteran guy who regularly came to verbally abuse me - I mean this guy literally 'seethed with anger.' I would just brush him off, tell him I was a socialist, and that he lost Vietnam for us. That really got him going....

Early morning street witnessing is how I get most of my field service time. Here is my routine:

    Saturday
5:30 a.m. tell wifey I'm going in early morning street work. She hugs the pillow and goes back to sleep, I grab the bookbag and head out the door.
5:45 a.m. make it to the gym, take workout clothes out of the bookbag & shoes out of the trunk, and workout for an hour.
7:00 a.m. post-workout shower is complete and dressed again in slacks, shirt, and tie. I grab breakfast and head to one of the city parks outside my KH's territory. Read a book, or study for class for the next 90 minutes.
8:45 a.m. back home to pick up the family for field service...since I've already "been witnessing" for about 3 hours I ride around directing the group on various streets for an hour (yeah I'm one of those guys that rides around) and then I'm off to do Return Visits (at least that is what I tell everyone).

I continue this routine because it keeps me from knocking on doors and whoever is in my car group later that morning doesn't get much time to peddle the mags. I get a lot of things done, and some quiet time under the guise of street witnessing. Thanks WTS for this added privilege of service!

I enjoyed street witnessing. It was easy, just stand there like a billboard and say nothing. Rural witnessing was also easy time. If someone had a call two would go in and 4 would sit in the car counting time waiting the longer the better.

From the time I could drive, that's what I did for service. Check out a rural territory, and put er' on cruise control. My brother and I used to wear hiking boots so we could check out any local trails in out territory, counting time for hiking......priceless.

I do it often don't count any of my time...my Lord keeps track of that! I have had a lot of great experiences sharing my faith in Jesus during the last several years. Wherever and whenever the Holy Spirit prompts me. Boldness plus tact and compassion. To be effective at sharing your faith you need to really feel for those who do not know the Lord yet. It involves as much time praying as it does witnessing.
Guess what? I have 9 out of 10 positive experiences and you'd be surprised at how many powple are guided by the H.S, to their profession of faith. I am continually amazed at what God can do through a faithful servant...

I just spent the past weekend in Cross Lanes (near Charleston) WV, witnessing door to door for local church there. Check out Cross Lanes Baptist if you are in the area, tell Pastor Seth that I sent you! I actually witnessed to a JW lady who answered her door. I turned to the gospel (from 1 Cor. 15:3-4) and read it to her. When she said she was a 'dub I reminded her about God's Kingdom. She actually took my info and that amazed me to no end. She will get visited again...
I have a history of actually giving JWs fits when I run across them. They don't get away without a nice seed of 'doubt' planted in their noggins.
