    Crucify---By Tori Amos

Every finger in the room is pointing at me I wanna spit in their faces Then I get affraid what that could bring I got a bowling ball in my stomach I got a desert in my mouth Figures that my COURAGE would choose to sell out now. I've been looking for a savior in these dirty streets Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets I've been raising up my hands Drive another nail in Just what GOD needs One more victim Why do we crucify ourselves Every day I crucify myself Nothing I do is good enough for you Crucify myself Every day I crucify myself And my HEART is sick of being in chains Got a kick for a dog beggin' for LOVE I gotta have my suffering So that I can have my cross I know a cat named Easter He says will you ever learn You're just an empty cage girl if you kill the brid I've been looking for a savior in these dirty streets Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets I've been raising up my hands Drive another nail in Got enough GUILT to start My own religion Why do we crucify ourselves Every day I crucify myself Nothing I do is good enough for you Crucify myself Every day I crucify myself And my HEART is sick of being in chains Please be Save me I CRY Looking for a savior in these dirty streets Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets I've been raising up my hands Drive another nail in Where are those angels When you need them Why do we crucify ourselves Every day I crucify myself Nothing I do is good enough for you Crucify myself Every day I crucify myself And my HEART is sick of being in chains Why do we change (chains?) Crucify ourselves Everyday Never going back again Crucify myself again You know Never going back again to Crucify myself Everyday

1 In the beginning Man created God; and in the image of Man created he him.
2 And Man gave unto God a multitude of names, that he might be Lord of all the earth when it was suited to Man
3 And on the seven millionth day Man rested and did lean heavily on his God and saw that it was good.
4 And Man formed Aqualung of the dust of the ground, and a host of others likened unto his kind.
5 And these lesser men were cast into the void; And some were burned, and some were put apart from their kind.
6 And Man became the God that he had created and with his miracles did rule over all the earth.
7 But as all these things came to pass, the Spirit that did cause man to create his God lived on within all men: even within Aqualung.
8 And man saw it not.
9 But for Christ's sake he'd better start looking.

    Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)

I still find it hard to believe that it took so long for Ian's message to kick in for me.

    BUT I AM OK NOW.

    Thanks Ian.

I'm pleasantly surprised by some of your song choices, particularly the ones by Bright Eyes and The Tea Party.

While this song didn't really help me out at the time, these days I can't help but think about how happy I am to have chosen free will when I hear:

    FreeWill by Rush

There are those who think that life has nothing left to chance,
A host of holy horrors to direct our aimless dance.

    A planet of playthings,
    We dance on the strings
    Of powers we cannot perceive
    "The stars aren't aligned,
    Or the gods are malign..."
Blame is better to give than receive.

    Chorus
You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
    You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill;
    I will choose a path that's clear
    I will choose freewill.

There are those who think that they were dealt a losing hand,
The cards were stacked against them; they weren't born in Lotusland.

    All preordained
    A prisoner in chains
    A victim of venomous fate.
    Kicked in the face,
You can't pray for a place
    In heaven's unearthly estate.

    Chorus

    Each of us
    A cell of awareness
    Imperfect and incomplete.
    Genetic blends
    With uncertain ends
On a fortune hunt that's far too fleet.

    Chorus

I was listening to an old Indigo Girl's album that I practically wore out in the nineties. And when I heard this song again I heard it in a ......

    wait for it...................

    NEW LIGHT.

I had guards like watchdogs, dogs in a manger

I could feel the protection, possession and anger

And I drove out of there with no one behind me feeling funny and free

All you pretty pretenders, negligent vendors, aren't you precious inside?

I have no need for anger with intimate strangers and I got nothing to hide

I laughed as I said it this is my situation

It's not pictures or privilege it’s just self preservation

I don't want you to feel any obligation; would it be so funny to be free?

All you pretty pretenders, negligent vendors, aren't you precious inside?

I have no need for anger with intimate strangers and I got nothing to hide

We act empty and innocent but we are fueled by distortions

(I remember you when we were shiny and new)

of lives led in discontent trading misfortunes

(now you guard your faith) cause faith is one thing that is hard to deliver

(temper your speed) it feels funny being free

All you pretty pretenders, negligent vendors, aren't you precious inside?

I have no need for anger with intimate strangers
    I got nothing to hide

I had guards like watchdogs dogs in a manger (I remember you)

I left the borg behind to a constant rhythmn of Tool's Undertow. One of the more appropriate songs from the album is Flood. Here are the lyrics.

    Flood

    Here comes the water.

All I knew and all I believed
    are crumbling images
    that no longer comfort me.
I scramble to reach higher ground,
    some order and sanity,
    or something to comfort me.

So I take what is mine, and hold what is mine,
suffocate what is mine, and bury what's mine.
    Soon the water will come
    and claim what is mine.
    I must leave it behind,
and climb to a new place now.

This ground is not the rock I thought it to be.

Thought I was high, and free.
    I thought I was there
    divine destiny.

    I was wrong.
    This changes everything.

The water is rising up on me.
Thought the sun would come deliver me,
but the truth has come to punish me instead.

The ground is breaking down right under me.
    Cleanse and purge me
    in the water.

Poetry helped me on my personal exodus and subsequent wandering of the desert.

i.e. Rumi who speaks of the Divine as a lover--

Being alive is a trespass without you.

Without you, what life can this living be?

Light of my life, each lifetime that passes

Without you is death; that's living for me.

    ~Rumi

There are many songs that help me on my journies in this realm

"My Last Breath"hold on to me love
you know i can't stay long
all i wanted to say was i love you and i'm not afraid
    can you hear me?
can you feel me in your arms?

    holding my last breath
    safe inside myself
are all my thoughts of you
sweet raptured light it ends here tonight

    i'll miss the winter
    a world of fragile things
look for me in the white forest
hiding in a hollow tree (come find me)
    i know you hear me
i can taste it in your tears

    holding my last breath
    safe inside myself
are all my thoughts of you
sweet raptured light it ends here tonight

    closing your eyes to disappear
you pray your dreams will leave you here
but still you wake and know the truth
    no one's there

    say goodnight
    don't be afraid
calling me calling me as you fade to black

    holding my last breath
    safe inside myself
are all my thoughts of you
sweet raptured light it ends here tonight
