Funny...that would mean they have been blaming and condemning themselves and their actions for 2,000 years? Oops.

Was Jesus saying that eye for an eye was wrong? would that not be blasphemey? Did the serpent do the same thing?

Both brought something new that was different than what God said. Were they calling Him a Liar, or bringing new information from Him?

Guess the only way to know...is to see if the message is from God and according to His wishes, or the messengers. IMO

How could one determine this? The so called 'Christian' world is divided into tens of thousands of religions due to the multitudinous ways that the 'Word of God' can be interpreted. Might we not just be obstruding our view as God's wishes?

Those who have a personal relationship with God can just ask him what his wishes are, and he should be able to tell them. They could then ask him to give the rest of us a call sometime.

Jesus said in Math. 5:38 "You heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.' However, I say to you: Do not resist him on your right cheek, turn the other also to him."

I believe he wasn't changing God's law but was talking of a new circumstance. Before God had a government of his own on earth and the 'eye of an eye' applied to handling judicial matters through judges and older men and the priest. But the new idea that Jesus talked of was talking about a personal assault, like an insult. Jesus knew that the Jewish system was going down and people wouldn't have to handle things on a personal level as a christian...So it was just a different time...not that the 1st idea was wrong...

There is no switchboard - they made that position up and inserted it between man and Jesus. To put it bluntly they are the false prophet. And to answer your last question - Yes.

Why did the Pharisees accuse him of blasphemy then? That would be like the pope accusing a prophet of being satan wouldn't it. Especially if the people stop following the pope, and his opinions of right and wrong. IMO.

Only problem being...the one he would be condemning..is the very foundation of his power and authority. Kind of like......

First: I strongly agree with FunkyDerek that a relationship of any kind requires two way communication. So a person would have to receive, at the very least, some kind of confirmation from God now and again. Unfortunately, the situation is almost always analogous to SETI's, a whole lot of searching with nothing but quiet static coming in. The WTS banks on the fact that so many of us don't get an undeniable "calling" from god. Its only the "anointed" who get the tie-in, but don't fret, if we stick with them, they'll pass on the needed direction.

Just like SETI, some signals that were excitedly suspected to be genuine contact turned out to have other alternate explanations. If you find yourself getting distinct communiques from Heaven, it would be prudent to get yourself checked by a shrink.

Second: Communication doesn't have to be verbal though. So perhaps we can in some way receive confirmation and nudging down certain paths from God if God so wishes. My question is does God only reach out to some? Or are only some open enough to receive the signal?

well...if we understand and discover new information in the bible...does not everyone own a bible? Is it possible "spirit" is "knowledge"?

Lets see if we can find out what the Author meant by those words...HIS opinion if you will.
