I think the GB 2.0 will approach televangelism with extra caution initially but will progressively get over-confident, inevitably talking themselves into a corner...

As much as I'd love to claim foresight, I have to say I'm highly skeptical any of this JW-TV is for outsider's benefit.

I see it as "polishing a turd" to boost rank and file morale.

Attempting outright evangelism (i.e. begging for money in exchange for prayer requests or miraculous healing) isn't the JW style IN PUBLIC.

For one thing, who cares about name brand "Jehovah"?

Jesus has all the goodwill as a kind, miracle worker.

By kicking Jesus out of the nest and elevating the mean Old Testament God of Vengeance, the TV-worthiness of JW doctrine shrinks into a mere nothing.

Perception isn't really reality--but---it is the next best thing for rank and file members.

    Imagine the following scenario:

A Newbie JW out in door-to-door work is speaking to a householder.

JW: "We've just begun a new . . . (insert gushing enthusiasm for JW-org and TV) and we . . . (more enthusiasm and self-promotional nonsense)."

    Householder: "So what?"

    END OF STORY.

    _____________-

All of this means less than nothing to non-witnesses.

It means bells and whistles to Newbie Witness.

Give your child a new toy and they are all smiles . . . for awhile. But--to the neighbor's kid, it's simply annoying.
