Whe I came across this Forum at first I just read the various posts for a month or so. Deep down, I knew the real truth was not with the Watchtower Organization, but I couldn't pin point exactly why I felt that way, and why I had so many doubts. Then I saw something that made me want to jump right into the conversation. The more I learned, the more I knew I had been deceived by false teachers from Brooklyn and by their false publications. The topic was this:

What was the one thing that led you to decide to post here?

Mine was the child abuse issue and Bill Bowen's unfolding experience. Knowing how the WTS concealed such cases, I realized it was a wide-ranging problem.

This is what YC was trying to imbed, but imbedded PDFs don't play well with some browsers:

YC, same here. This was what broke the contract for me. They betrayed me personally by becoming an Associate member of the UN/DPI.

For me, it wasn't really a specific event in jw history, it was more personal. I was ordered by the elders to shun my best friend - or else. I was having doubts anyway (hence the name), and posting on here, as well as reading what others had to say, helped me to see that my doubts were well founded. I guess you could say that being on here has helped me learn the truth about the troof.

I saw the last 10 minutes of the May 2002 Dateline Special on pedophiles within the JW organization..........I about fell off my couch. HYPOCRISY!!! They kept saying from the platform and magazines how bad the Catholics were for their pedophile problem....

YC, there were lots of "flashpoints" throughout my life, but the JW teaching on confession was the thing that really led me to do some objective research. In my personal story, I wrote about how coming to discover the truth about the WTS was kind of like a muddy, unclear voice calling out to me through a pane of glass. You can read about it here, if you like...

For me it was the GB's marginalisation of those they called the fellow annointed and the grabbing of all power = Luciferean lust for power. What happens with all the others don't they get inspirations and revelations? Does the Holy Spirit bypass them? The GB are the same as those early christian leaders that they paint as power hungry self seeking apostates, it's the same archetypal behaviour.

It started with the 607 debate. I was actually just curious about the date (not even looking for "apostate" webpages). I googled 607 B.C.E. to just find some info about the history of it all and was amazed at what I found. I had seen all of these webpages before but never gave them consideration. I even knew about Ray Franzs books, but didn't give them much regard. It took me years to buy Ray Franzs books, and after I finally read them all of my most important questions where there.

For years I felt my lack of faith was in God, but I finally realized it was in men.

Everything you said YC relates exactly to me.The sense of betrayal and secrecy shocked me.My degree of shock affected my wife so much she had to find out for herself.Even after having faded I would not even view apostate literature and next thing you know I google JW,find a few sites, see a whole bunch of people like myself and start posting!Scary and thrilling!
