"We're Off to See the Wizard" from the Wizard of Oz

Big,
"TROY," huh? I feel ya...
If this is a serious question, I'll give a serious answer.
Those who've indicated they will attend my funeral know that the song I want is one which brings a tear to my eyes whenever I hear it. It has special meaning for this poor old exDub. BTW it's from England.
How Deep The Father's Love For Us
How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.
How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away.
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory.
Behold the man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear the mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life -
I know that it is finished.
I will not boast in anything,
No gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ,
His death and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer,
But this I know with all my heart,
His wounds have paid my ransom.
(Stuart Townsend, 1995)
OK, back to the jokes ......
Cheers,

Just thought of another I'd love to have played.
Trooper--We're here for a Good Time (not a long time)
Ra Mcguire (his ode to "carpe diem")
A very good friend of mine
Told me something the other day
I'd like to pass it in to you
Cause I believe what he said to be true
He said
We're here for a good time
Not a long time (not a long time)
So have a good time
The sun can't shine every day
And the sun is shinin'
In this rainy city
And the sun is shinin'
Oooooh, isn't it a pity
And every year, has it's share of tears
And every now and then it's gotta rain
We're here for a good time
Not a long time
So have a good time
The sun can't shine every day
And the sun is shinin'
In this rainy city
And the sun is shinin'
Oooooh, isn't it a pity
That every year, has it's share of tears
Every now and then it's gotta rain
We're here for a good time
Not a long time
So have a good time
The sun can't shine every day
And in keeping with Jan and Dave, I'll choose a Queen song....Another One Bites the Dust!
At the celebration of my life I would want this played:
And When I Die
Blood Sweat And Tears
I'm not scared of dying,
And I don't really care.
If it's peace you find in dying,
Well then let the time be near.
If it's peace you find in dying,
And if dying time is here,
Just bundle up my coffin
'Cause it's cold way down there.
I hear that its cold way down their.
Yeah, crazy cold way down their.
Chorus:
And when I die, and when I'm gone,
There'll be one child born
In this world to carry on,
to carry on.
Now troubles are many, they're as deep as a well.
I can swear there ain't no heaven but I pray there ain't no hell.
Swear there ain't no heaven and I pray there ain't no hell,
But I'll never know by living, only my dying will tell.
Yes only my dying will tell.
Yeah, only my dying will tell.
Chorus
Give me my freedom for as long as I be.
All I ask of living is to have no chains on me.
All I ask of living is to have no chains on me,
And all I ask of dying is to go naturally.
Oh I want to go naturally.
Here I go,
Hey Hey!
Here comes the devil,
Right Behind.
Look out children,
Here he comes!
Here he comes! Hey...
Don't want to go by the devil.
Don't want to go by demon.
Don't want to go by Satan,
Don't want to die uneasy.
Just let me go naturally.
and when I die,
When I'm dead, dead and gone,
There'll be one child born in our world to carry on,
To carry on.
Yeah, yeah...
Kismet - hoping not to hear this played in my honor for many many decades
PS - Just so you know..there are easier ways to request songs that you want to hear that don't have the same kind of final result afterwards...
Just call your local DJ and request the song. A much better alternative IMO.

I DO know I want to end with klezmer music. If you've never heard of it, check out this band -- a sterling example: The Brandeis-Bardin Klezmer Ensemble, at:
