Some of us don't believe in Jesus and could care less about the origins and also don't buy into the holiday's exploitation by big business. We just enjoy getting together with our families for a celebration.

Under74, before my mom became a witness, we did celebrate the event. Mind you, in those days,it wasn't as lavish as today, they didn't have the money and variety of presents.

One of the things I personally didn't like, and that is, my brothers not being happy with their presents. In those days, getting clothes was the big thing.

This season doesn't perk me up because, to many its' depressing. My older children are into it. No drinks or fights. Ah, the New Years, that's different but no fights and tearing each other apart.

    The best.

Ah, the age old question of the JW. Because we like christmas lights and santa defd...those are seasonal.

Golf- I understand. I've never been into New Years myself but I can understand.

My son's birthday is also in December and sometimes doesn't get as big of a hoohaw as the birthday's in other months. So..we have 1/2 year birthday's for him. Like when he turned 9 and a half we had a party for him. Also, since his name is Patrick, we would have another party for him with gifts/cake/party favors, ect on St' Patrick's day...for the longest time, he thought St Patrick's day was a special holiday just for him. He's 21 now...we will probably continue the the St' Patrick's day tradition, but I don't know about the 1/2year birthday parties.

I love the lights on the houses and trees. I love being able to peek in people's windows as you drive by and seeing their trees shining through the windows. Especially if there is snow on the ground. My very favorite is the all blue lights shining on fresh snow.

I don't like the crowds and craziness at the malls...mixed with the traffic on the snow and ice covered streets. Yet at the same time, I like being able to actually pick up and look and the gift I'm giving to someone vs catalog or on-line shopping.

I dont like it period. It is to commercialised and has NOTHING to do with Jesus. It is actually a dishonoring Holiday. The whole thing is based on lies and untruths.

Actually if you would bother to use that computer constructively and do some research you would find that your beloved religion is "based on lies and untruths."

But we know you wont do that.

Christmas used to be my favorite time of year but now I am having a hard time to get 'That old feeling' back!

It could be lack of snow (We have none yet) I don't know, but I do hope I get it back!

I was excited till I saw my bank account statement. Unexpected medical bills and of course the state wants their tax money...and voila! No christmas for me! Not that it's all about the materialism...but I do like to get all my peeps little things that I find that I think they'd like...alas...not this year. again. ::SIGH::

To show you what type of 'spirit' I'm in...the tree isn't even up. Nothing has been done...none of my highly obsessive, slightly anal traditions have thusfar been observed. Ah c'est la vie. :)

I used to get that Christmasy feeling when I was associated with the jws! lol

Even though I grew up in the bOrg I always loved Christmas and this time of the year.
