Thanx for your posts Scully and Inquisitor. That brother never did have much tact, but you can count on him to always tell you what he really thought. :)

In fairness to him, I don't believe he was trying to publically put me down personally and on purpose. He was just very eager to validate the teachings of his Mommy. My story was just what he wanted to hear so he seized on it.

Yeah, I do see that he had a valid point and so do you. I should stop sulking and see how I may work harder and smarter to be more of a success. It was just offputting to me because I clearly saw myself as a convenient casefile for the Borg to point to. I should take that valid statement though and work smarter personally so that it won't apply to me and so that I won't be an example they'd love to mention.

There was a time when I thought that the future of our believe was: more education and educated JW's that would lead to an other kind of believe & theology. But now I am out of that dream. No reform anymore. This study places our believe back in time. Why? Our leaders are becoming younger (new members of GB). The Society uses high educated men for the organisation: accountants, law-specialist etc. computer-specialists, History-research, public relations etc etc. We - the rank and file - JW's are not all blind to see that this WT is very wrong.

It is true though the Watchtower is digging its claws in on education. Higher education forces you to evaluate and reason, producing a greater sence of autonomy, things the Watchtower does not want its members to have. The governing body wants everyone to be focused on organizational goals instead of being able to rightly set their own life goals. I think they fear people will become sidetracked from Watchtower motives if pursuing post secondary, and that don't help bring the membership up. The leadership are essentially hardening or burdening the memberships lives by their decrees of men, whether they knowingly do so or not. With none of the Society's arguments against higher education having any sound bible backing, hopefully the majority will not mindlessly give way to this rigid demand but will seek their full potential.
