You do realize competent medical testimony CAN and HAS been used as the second witness for a LONG time ?

Beepbeep, elder bodies are not able to assemble medical testimony for JW judicial hearings. So unless the elders report the abuse to the secular authorities or let the family know they are allowed to do so without repercussions (being charged with slander), there is not a second witness. It is possible and it has happened for a JW to be found guilty of rape and/or sexual abuse of a minor, go to prison, and never be dealt with judicially by the elder body. Why...there are not 2 eyewitnesses.

    State Reporting Laws

Clergy. In the wake of the Catholic church sex abuse scandal, many states have revised their mandatory reporting laws to include clergy as mandatory reporters. According to the National Clearinghouse, 21 states now include clergy as mandatory reporters, while another 18 define all people as mandatory reporters of abuse and would therefore include clergy. Protection for information received during confession varies. Link to an article on clergy reporting posted by the National Clearinghouse (PDF 294k).
