Often when I'm done with my reike for Ian, I'm moving on to Brenda, and sending prayers to Sally.

So you two are not out of my thoughts, love, and blessings.

THANK you for your continued support and outpouring of love! It means so much more than words can express. My heart is often full with the knowledge that so many from all over the world are connected to little old me and wishing me well.

    A profoundly grateful,

GREAT hearing from you, Brenda (((((((((((((())))))))))))))))

Are you able to take the new drug Herceptin? It is having a really good write-up over here. I realise it doesn't suit all breast cancer patients but it has certainly given a cure to many others. I truly hope you are able to take it.

I often think of you. You have been through so much these past few months. So many people here hold you in sincere love and affection.

I had my 4th dose of chemo yesterday and my legs feel a little wobbly this afternoon (I just tried running up the stairs, where the computer is). Apart from having some "chemo-head" this morning I don't feel too bad right now.

You keep fighting, Brenda! You've got the courage and the will to beat it. We'll be able to hug each other in the flesh when we're better, so keep the kettle on!

    Sincere Love, Admiration & Affection,

    Ian

    Hi, again, Ian!

I AM one of the 20% of women who are able to take Herceptin. I had a HER2 positive (+3 overexpressed oncogene) tumor. In fact, Herceptin has been a part of my chemo treatment plan since the pathology came back in May or June. The studies that were publicized yesterday were already known to me and my oncologists months ago (only takes a bit of digging and/or being in the field and attending conferences). When I finish the present Adriamycin course (2 more treatments), I will begin Taxol with Herceptin treatments in December. The Taxol will be 4 treatments 21 days apart. The Herceptin will be weekly for an entire year. Yesterday's newspaper said that the cost of 1 year of Herceptin is approximately $48,000 US at wholesale prices!!!!!!! THANK GOODNESS I have excellent health insurance coverage!

Oh, those wobbly post-chemo legs! I know them well. I am very fatigued this week, and yet my CBC taken earlier today was pretty good after Wednesday's Neupogen shot. And the chemo-fog! LOL I still have not completed a report for my Business class which was due this past Monday because, although I had no problem gathering information, the synthesis proved impossible for me! I'll have to try to complete it this weekend, and yet I stillI feel fuzzy-brained--and nauseous. Ah, well, this, too, shall pass! At least, that's what I keep telling myself...

We shall definitely meet someday, Ian! In fact, should I be eligible for Herceptin to be given to me in every 3 weeks versus weekly doses, I may get to Europe next summer. By then I should have some of the equity from my present home in my pocket!

In the meantime, love and fond thoughts to you, Claire, and my other JWD friends.
