I have seen people in the poorest circumstances giving and giving and i realize the wts is not alone as a n org.in siphoning the $$$ out of its people. But i just hope that some one in the O'Bama administration is watching this 'non-profit'.. 'charitable' watchtower operation.
We will know they day they get hit for back taxes. There willbe a flash of blinding new light and the cry of "Persecution persecution!"
Would they be instructed to tell non jw spouses about their 'tithing' agreement? A forced amount that comes out of the family budget? If so, I will have to take an equal amount to donate to anti-witness causes. I wonder how the elders would see that?
I saw a JW at the weekend who still thinks I'm a JW. I asked her what she thought of the new donation arrangement, she said 'I don't see a problem with it' I thought that response was telling.

Thank you for this thread. I am happy for you that your wife and mother had such comments about the new financial arrangement, it goes to show that not all JWs follow blindly. I wish you and your family all the best and hope they all wake up.

I have two friends that have completely faded and quit going to meetings yet their spouses still go. I contacted them this week with this very question. Neither of their wives had told them about the new donation/tithing arrangement!

...giving an older KH a facelift definately increases it's resale value, and dissolving/consolidating congregations who haven't kept up their "profit margin" or their size (and subsequently selling off the Hall) still seems to be a significant component of the WTS' current M-O.
my husband is a very active dub, who i am slowly trying to help learn ttatt...
i told him about the donation changes before they were announced at the kh. he has said he is waiting to see what they do...
and i dont see anything wrong with tithing if it is not forced and is transparent. the wtbts way of doing things is not honest. they are liars amd mislead the jws.

A tithe is by definition forced. The WT has never been transparent about its finances. One of the hypocritical practices that got me waking up was the fact that every congregation on Earth disclosed its finances to the congregation every month, yet the WTBTS NEVER has.

That's because, in their rigid little minds, all that money belongs to jehovah.
You can't really expect them to ask for jehovahs checking account balance.......
We did that at an old hall i was in here in Tennessee. We were in a very old building and they were trying to decide if remodeling or rebuilding was the better option. They passed out little peices of paper to write what we could afford towards a mortgage payment if we had to get a loan. A wealthy couple "annonymously" paid off the existing mortgage, so the building and lot was sold and another one was built down the street.
Not sure how they paid for the new mortgage, I was fading quickly by then.
