Gone Fishing .. . . for WTBTS informercials. My new hobby is to google for Jehovah's Witnesses Convention news articles and when I find WTBTS informercials I post comments to the informercial. So far I have found two WTBTS informercials for January and expect to find more as the WTBTS's convention season heats up. On some informercials I wonder if local JWs are counting time posting comments to the informercials.

I try to make non-flamable comments like below, but I use my Facebook account "Protecting Americans from Dangerous Orgs". I may have to create another Facebook page, so my comments sound a little less harsh. Any suggestions for a new Facebook page name?

When I posted to one informercial I noticed that comments are sorted by how many likes a poster has on their Facebook account. It made me wonder, if anyone is interested in starting a Facebook page that administrators of the Facebook page could use to post comments in on-line comments about the WTBTS or other Dangerous Orgs. If everyone on JWN, liked that one Facebook page, that Facebook page would be near the top of on-line comments for some informercials.

On another informercial I saw a negative WTBTS comment from a Danny Haszard Bangor Maine FMI . Does anyone know a Danny Haszard on JWN?

I will continue to post to this thread about my experiences in the hope that other people will post to informercials about their personal experiences with the WTBTS.

Whatever you do must seem reasonable to the larger community and whatever you say must be easily proven and difficult to dismiss as 'rhetoric from a disaffected member.'

Hi Black Sheep, Thanks for the heads up about Danny and I will try to portray a reasonable person who wants a more balanced approach to news reporting.

By the way I still cannot get your comment about comparing organizing exJWs to herding cats out of my head. I laugh every time I think about it.

Think about leaving comments about current events. E.g. Harold Camping is recent and the WT has done the same in the past, so draw parallels. Try to anticipate what the reader will think when they read your post. Your personal opinion is not important.

I seldom specifically target JW. Just because JW was the cult I was raised in doesn't make them special.

Hi Black Sheep, Thanks for the tip about referring to current events - where is Harold Camping when you need him to make a prophesy? I target JWs with information because I know of good web links to provide, the WTBTS is a large dangerous cult so there is more bang for my efforts to empower JWs, and I have personal experience with the WTBTS. When I write to politicians I target all dangerous cults not just the WTBTS, such as in the thread: URGENT: Please Sign White House Petition to "Protect Americans from Dangerous Cults: Modify USC Title 26 § 501 Tax Exemption Requirements".

When I write comments to informercials, I try to make my comments as vague as possible to hopefully make readers curious enough to think about using the links that I provide. Too bad I cannot make the links into hyperlinks in the comments.

I wonder how much money the WTBTS spends to plant informercials in the newsmedia? Do news reporters have ethical dilemmas about writing informercials without labeling them as informercials?

BTTT about my posting to WTBTS informercials. I have seen a lot of death notices using Google News recently and have not seen WTBTS informercials about conventions. I hope that the WTBTS convention season heats up soon because I will not post comments to death notices even though the notices sound like an informercial for the WTBTS.

Although I originally targeted WTBTS infomercials, I have also started writing comments to articles that include "Jehovah's Witnesses" and tried to tailor my comments to be more relevant to the main topic of the article. Some of my comments may not appear for a few days, or possible never because my comments must be reviewed first and including weblinks may be contrary to the rules of a news media. My comments are either by Rober M., nodangerousorgs, or Protecting Americans from Dangerous Orgs depending whether I use my Facebook or Gmail accounts and the requirements of the news organizations.

Please click on the following links and, if you like my comments, please click on the "Like" button to increase the chances of other people reading my comments. Also, feel free to post your own comments. The more comments the better! Hurry if you want to review the following articles because on-line news media will delete links after a month or two.
