Update! Drew Sagan is no longer a Jehovah's Witness

As promised here is all of the info regarding what has been going on.

Per the last JC with the Elders I realized that all I had done was buy time. They felt that we should be DF'ed right on the spot, but because I made a plea to wait for a letter coming back from the WTS they decided to hold on taking such action.

The whole thing turned into a game of chess. After the meeting I was looking at my options and realized that I had none. On the other hand I also realized that the Elders had very little on my wife. She had already stated to them that she would give up her YMCA membership. That night they where going to DF both of us together as accomplices in the same crime, but they didn't. Their actions helped me see a window of opportunity.

If I was to DA myself then they would be left with what to do with my wife. I figured it was a great way to see what they where made of. Would they move for a kangaroo court? Would they create fake reasons to DF my wife since I was their biggest link in the case against her?

So about a week after the first JC meeting I had a talk with Elder-B (read more of my older posts to find out the details about him). It was a long conversation which I won't relate here. I'll just say that he got my DA letter that night. Surprisingly he said that he was proud of me for standing up for what I believe. He didn't leave after that either. I then used the opportunity to tell him about various things including the UN Scandal, Ray Franz, and other things. He was interested but scared. He was very surprised when I told him that Ray Franz book was not vicious at all, but written in a very kind manner. It seemed to impress him. After about an hour of this he left, and I was no longer a Jehovah's Witness. The announcement was just read the other night.

Now the question came down to what would happen with my wife. The charges against her where weak, and she had already agreed to walk away from her YMCA membership. We eventually got a call from Elder-B to schedule another JC meeting for her, which we attended.

Going in we had a feeling that there would be no mercy shown. I sat quite next to my wife and said almost nothing the entire time. She rarely spoke as well. Quickly into the meeting they started probing to see how 'sorry' she was for joining the YMCA. Eventually they started to accuse her of not preforming enough good works, and that the lack of good works she was producing showed that she wasn't a Christian. I was surprised at how much she gave over to them in hope of appeasement. She tried her best to work through the situtation and remain as an inactive JW. Even so, they where quite harsh in their accusations and I saw little in the way of mercy.

I can tell from what I heard that the main reason they where angry with her is because of her not going to meetings, field service, ect. I also know they can't DF you for that (how many JWs don't go to meetings!) and that bogus reasons would have to be given as reason to DF her.

We stepped out of the room and they talked for about an hour. I knew she was going to be Df'ed, no doubt about it. We stepped back into the room and heard their decision, and it was to DF. They said the reason was for apostasy, that she was not sorry enough for quitting the YMCA. This led to Elder-A making the comment of the night:

"If you think you can hold on just so you can talk to mommy and daddy think again"

So it was finished. Elder-C actually stated that she had not been active enough in terminating her YMCA membership (like writing a letter). Of course at our last meeting letting the membership lapse was good enough, but now they required that she go the extra mile. Typical of them creating a reason to DF.

An interesting side note, no prayer was given at this meeting. I also know from my 'telepathic powers' that they did not offer a prayer when we where outside of the room and they where debating their decision. In addition I found out that good ol' Elder-B was the reason for the long deliberation. He fought against a DFing for around 20 minutes until the other Elders boxed him into a corner and made him side with them.

So now we have the aftermath. We are going to our in-laws soon with the story of what happened. We'll post the updates as they come. Hopefully they start to wonder how Jehovah's spirit can be leading men that forget to pray about such 'life and death' decisions.

Now there is a man who needs his legs broken.

I wish you guys the best with your family. And congratulations to you both on not-being-a-JW anymore. There is a certain relief and pride to be taken in that, even as it effs you over in other ways.

They said the reason was for apostasy, that she was not sorry enough for quitting the YMCA.

How could they possibly know how "sorry" she was?

will the " telepathic powers" be available on an audio file anytime soon?

i'd love to hear that elder SAY " if you think you can hold on just so you can talk to mommy and daddy , think again"

    that sounds so evil.

Just a good excuse for them to get rid of the inactive ones! Of course you must be an apostate if you dont go to the meetings, and join the Y!

I know you will both be much happier. That is a fact. The long nightmare is over and you can live for real.

Your's is but one more example that while the Watchtower Society uses the name "Jehovah" and treats it like some sort of talisman, they know absolutely nothing about Him. They claim to perform their works in the "name" of God, and yet they are so far alienated from the Person and Character and Quality of the God represented by the name.

You have escaped. I suspect Mommy and Daddy may join you.

    All the best.
