ITHINKISEE Update: No more field service?

I know these updates are often minor, so there is no need to respond to every one. I am just posting for certain people that are keeping track of this stuff.

Last night I had to work late, but when I got home my wife and kids had gone to the meeting. My wife had not said anything about going to the meeting when I called a couple of hours earlier. I thought that was strange.

No worries though. She got home and told me some interesting things that happened at the meeting. One was that the guy conducting the oral review said the only website that JWs should be using for bible research online is www.watchtower.org.

I asked, "Was he reading from a letter or was he just stating his opinion?"

She said, "He was stating his opinion as usual. He added it on to an answer to a question that was asked in the Oral Review."

I said, "Yeah, even though it was his opinion I imagine the Society would prefer it if everyone followed that guideline."

Later on last night she mentioned our car situation. I still have a new little commuter car from my job that was 50 miles away last year. She has a new higher-end minivan. She suggested that instead of getting rid of the commuter car before our move, that we instead get rid of the mini-van.

    Why?

She said, "The only reason I wanted a mini-van originally was for field service. That was the ONLY reason."

She then let that statement trail off and there was a moment of semi-tense-but-not-really silence. The implications of what she just said didn't need to be elaborated on.

Her suggestion was that we sell the van and get a 4-door pickup truck when we get to North Carolina.

Sounds like field service is out for North Carolina!

She has almost finished the book "Toxic Faith".

Now I just have to work on my plan to intercept our publisher record cards so we won't get any calls from the local congregation.

Sounds good on the home front. Take it from me my wife took many years to finally see the Truth about the TROOF she left me once and gave me the u ltimatum to either good back to meetings and raise our kids as Witnesses or she would never come back. She came back and now that she opened her mind in look at the information about the Society she is worse than me. Boy I am happy because I love her but if it had meant getting a divorce I would of done just that. So I am happy for you.

Now I just have to work on my plan to intercept our publisher record cards so we won't get any calls from the local congregation.

Just don't tell them which congregation it will be. The Secretary of the new congregation writes to the former Secretary to send for the cards (or vice versa). It shouldn't be a problem, if you just give them no information. You could always tell them you will contact them when you know for sure. One of our friends told his congregation they were moving to a KH where his cousin was an elder (and he was the Secretary too). The cousin is sympathetic to him, so when his cards arrived, he gave them to him and he destroyed them. End of story. We thought that was great. The cousin is still an elder but trying hard to disengage.

Wow! ITIS, you're wife has come a very LONG WAYS in such a very short time. I am so pleased for you BOTH. I also fear some ... backlash seems such a harsh word, but maybe applicable ... down the line. But your wife has an incredible mind of her own and she is willing to own it! You have an awesome mate there.

    Hugs and much love

    Brenda

PS - when do WE get to meet her?

I am just stunned into (near) silence at the apparent speed of your wife's turn around, but I don't don't want to discount the time YOU'VE spent "preparing the field."

Plus, you get a 4WD pickup out of it! How SWEET is that?

At times your story seems too good to be true: I just hope you don't end this saga by saying something like, "...and then I woke up; my sweet dream was over."

    Fantastic story ithinkisee!

I've been following your story and am really enjoying it (especially the outcome). You've done a wonderful job convincing your wife. I am so happy that you have been able to get through to her. I went through a similar situation myself and was able to decompress my wife as well. It was such a relief! It wasn't instantaneous as you would imagine. I didn't receive a positive response at the start but she was able to open her eyes gradually after the initial "shock" factor was over. All in all it took a few months for her to see the light completely.

It seems that yor wife is headed in the same direction at full speed. You will find out that opening her eyes was the best decision you could have made. It was for me. We've never been happier since becoming detoxified. I'm sure the same will be for you and your wife. We are also trying to find a way to intercept our publisher card as well. We recently moved and stopped attending meetings at the same time. We haven't moved our card from the cong yet. Please let me know if you find out any ingenious ways of accomplishing this.

i look forward to more updates on the continuing saga!

Its never minor my man. You have no idea how much encouragement I derive from hearing about your experiences. It is often the highlight of my day. Your successes lend hope for our successes.
