My son is eight and in the second grade in Washington state. His teacher sent home a letter yesterday about the geography project they will be starting this week. She read them a book called "Flat Stanley" about a boy who had many adventures while in his "flat" state. She asked us to send the name and address of a friend or family member in another part of the state, country, or world who would be willing to participate.
Here is the project: Rhys will be sending a letter with "Flat Stanley" inside. The letter explains they are tracking Flat Stanley's travels and asks the recipient to send a postcard from where they live to his class. Then they are to send Flat Stanley and the letter to someone else who will send a postcard and forward Flat Stanley again. The object is to see how far Stanley travels and keep it going until June. The letter states that if you receive it close to June 1 you are to send the postcard and then send Stanley back home.
Little Toe has agreed to start the project for Rhys. I think the kids will be sending the letters this week. I thought since we have a network of friends on the board who live all over the world, we can really send Stanley on a world tour.
Obviously we can't have you posting your addresses online but if Ross can let us know when he receives Stanley, someone else can agree to be next and PM Ross their address. We can continue it from there.
I figure he can go all over Europe and hit Australia and Canada and the US.
Anyone interested?
