I've read a few very interesting stories about people's experiences when they decided to purchase CoC.I'd like to share mine and read yours also.

In 1999,not long after we purchased our first computer I started reading material about jw's.Before long,I got really interested in the Ray Franz story because even up here in northern ontario,I had heard about the apostasy of 1980.In the fall of '99 my wife decide to take a college course(bucking the jw trend),and she would stay at her sister's place during the week. One day i called a christian book store to see if they could get me this book.I was very nervous, changed my name and I wouldn't give them my phone number.I told them I'd call back in a few weeks to make sure they had it before I went in to pick it up.

When the day came,I picked up my courage by two hands and took off for my 40 mile drive to get my book. The book store is located in a small shopping mall, which had me really nervous that another jw might see me going in or out of the store.I walked in the mall looking around, making sure there was nobody in sight that I knew. When I walked in the store,I had cash ready in my hands, walked up to the counter, gave my fake name and the book I was purchasing. Now I just had to walk and make it to the car and I was home free.

I know buying a book isn't that hard,I do it all the time, but at that time the implicationsof having this book in my possesion was tremendous.

Anyways,it's been 5 1/2 years and still nobody here knows. The book has really opened my eyes and mind to the realities of the WTS.I would definitely recommend this book to everyone here who has yet to read it.It's worth the effort to acquire it and will take away your fear of the WatchDollar.

As a JW I went to a fairground together with some other JWs. It happened that some people of the "Tent Mission" had a booth there. I decided to go there and kick some ...., religiously speaking. ;-)

After some time, one of those guys asked me: "Do you know that the nephew of the current WT president has become apostate and has even written a book?" I did not have a clue but pretended not to care. He explained there were even tapes about this.

We went on and were happy to have showed them. ;-) But this Franz thing was still on my mind. I started reading CoC at a public library. Later I dared to order it at amazon. Still later I even dared to order the tapes from freeminds.org.

It took me more than a decade...

I made the decision to buy it after reading the reviews for the book on Amazon. I was afraid to order it through Amazon as I couldn't have it shipped and take the chance of having my wife open it. So I ordered it through Borders. The night I got it I started reading it while my wife went to her meeting. By the time she got home I had read enough to know that I wanted to share it with every JW I know. I will never forget the gasp she let out when I tried to share it with her.

I shared it with some other out of town friends who were already questioning. The husband had the wife read it to him so that he could say he hadn't read it if asked by the elders, which in fact they did.

Another friend who eventually read it and DA'd was scared to death to even touch it at first.

Looking back it's laughable how much control was exercized over our minds.

I ordered it through Amazon but ordered several other books along with it and had them shipped to my place of work. Then I brought the other books home as gifts to the family. Even if someone saw the credit card charge, they wouldn't be able to figure out the cost of each book with out the shipping receipt(which I kept at work).

Im halfway through it my second time, and I must say it really has relieved some of the stresses that I felt. What I find most fantastic is that this is documented information from a former higher up. It seems very believable.

My non jw wife introduced it to me slowly.I knew she had a new source of info because, SHE NEVER WOULD HAVE BROUGHT UP THOSE POINTS ON HER OWN.

well quite honestly i couldnt give her an answer to her questions,so I read it.

Then I read his 2nd book (In search of christian freedom)If you haven't read that you must get it .Im out now and am trying to help others.

I think it was 1988 or 1989, I was living at my parents' house and going to design school. I had gotten a free newspaper from the east bay (berkeley) called the Eastbay Expresss. I was looking in the ads at the back of the paper and found an ad that said something like "if you want to find out the real truth about the Jehovah's witnesses call this number". I called the number and listened to the message which told me how to get the C & C book which I had heard about a few years before. A few days later I went to a Christain book store as the message directed and ordered the book.

A few years ago I wanted to buy" The living bible"

So I went to the christian bookstore, not before I changed into a skirt and put my pocket size bible in my bag, just in case the shop keeper wanted to witness to me .What a joke!

Then i sneeked in and sneeked out

I confessed to the p.o. wife what id done and she said she read that aswell

Funnily when I started reading it, I really enjoyed it it really brought things to life, but I started questioning things to myself, so I put it away and stopped reading it IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
