Sunspot, the TMS was changed a bit about 3 years ago. Here is how the #4 Talk is handled.

km 10/03 p. 3 Theocratic Ministry School Schedule for 2004 ***

ASSIGNMENT NO. 4: 5 minutes. The student should develop the assigned theme. When no references are indicated as source material, the student will need to gather material for this part by doing research in publications provided by the faithful and discreet slave class. When assigned to a brother, this part may be given as a talk with the Kingdom Hall audience in mind. When a sister is given this part, it should always be presented as outlined for Assignment No. 3. The school overseer may give a brother assignment No. 4 whenever he sees fit to do so. Please note that themes with asterisks next to them should always be assigned to brothers to develop as talks.

we have many laws(i need another word for this, i might get introuble for saying laws haha it sounds to harsh)

Try "principles" instead. You know how they love weasel words.

should i do the talk that I wrote or get it out of the reasoning book? or mix it, like my own introduction and conclusion, with body from the reasoning book? seriously, i feel like i want to show off to the elders and say "hey leave me the fuck alone". seriously, i havent done a part 4 in like a year now.

Thanks Blondie for the update on the TMS procedure. Now I realize what Tsun's dilemma was all about! That has got to be tough trying to develop some of that doubletalk and make it sound "conversational", huh?

All those lovely brain cells being wasted on that tripe!

I left in 1995, when #4 talks were still either regurgitate-four-paragraphs-of-an-old-book or pad-these-three-scriptures. Jeeeez, poor Tsunami!

I still say cut-n-paste. Find one or two scriptures, look up not more than two short articles on each, mix gently, and serve. As far as possible, do not bother to rephrase. That's what our TMS overseer found so impressive, back in the day.

What are you guys talking about? part 4 talk? Is this part of some speech he MUST do at the kh? please enlighten me. At what point does one have to do this? Males only I'm supposing. Baptized only too? It sounds like a repetetive thing that takes place on a semi regular basis, only people are allowed some of their own wording? thanks for the info, carla

PS- why would a guy who is a ms, just now be giving a 'public talk'? and it won't be till mid winter, do they think it will take him that long to preprare or what? As far as I know he gets to hold the mich. and of course does 'studies' with people, fs, etc...

As most JW's missed the point I will simplify:

Jesus died to fufill the law and left us with just 2 laws.... "do unto others as you would do unto yourself" and love your neighbor.

If we follow those to laws the rest will take care of theirselfs.
