    NEED FOR MENTAL CLEANSING

It is evident, therefore, that there must be a cleaning out of the mind if there is to be an implanting of right thinking. There must be a putting away of all filthiness of the flesh, and that superfluous thing, moral badness, so one can give one's time and energies to accepting the implanting of the Word Of God in one's mind. One just cannot do both things at the same time. Sweet water and bitter water cannot come out of the same spring. (Jas. 3:11) It is absolutely necessary for one to change one's ways of thinking and doing things if the truth of God's Word is going to be implanted in one and grow.

It sounds like the mind control crowd just got an interesting quote. The Witnesses forgot to mention when a new Witness is cleaning out their mind, they also toss out their family, their career plans and their health. Ahaaa, but a minor oversight!

    Whatta ya think gang?

Looks like they're trying to extol the virtues of brainwashing.

    Great Quote, GB!

I've just added it to the CULT page at the Quotes site.

Notice how quick we got from implanting the Word of God to implanting the "truth about" God's Word? I'd think that might be a slight tip off. Usually when a con does a bait and switch they don't do it in one short paragraph:-)

you know, I actually tried to follow that counsul. It almost destroyed me and my children. I substituted all gut feeling for what the watchtower taught. Dear God, please forgive me... ;)

Corrections to the 1970 yearbook quotation are in red font:

It is evident, therefore, that there must be a cleaning out of the mind leaving of any common-sense reasoning behind if there is to be an implanting of right thinking Watchtower dogma. There must be a putting away of all filthiness of the flesh, and that superfluous thing, moral badness, things that you might pursue and enjoy outside of theocratic activity so one can give one's time and energies to accepting the implanting of the Word Of God Watchtower propaganda in one's mind. One just cannot do both things at the same time. Sweet water and bitter water cannot come out of the same spring. You cannot live a normal life and obey the Watchtower Society at the same time.

I think all of us who were actual members tried to comply and had bad results. I can't think of anybody I would believe who had good results with going with the empty brain advise printed by the Witness group.
