    MAHABA,

    have you read the bible?

    Yes, many, many times.

An I never felt that God despise these wonderful and lovable creatures that you women are.

Often the viewpoint upon woman in the scriptures is human ,because it relate the life and thoughs of people prevalent at the time of the writing.

Nevertheless the God of the Bible didn't create the first wife to be beaten or despised by Adam.

Neither did it taught to male children to disrespect their mother or sister.

But true, among witnessess a lot of "stronger vessel" think that they are superior.

The love of God toward is creatures is not related to the fact of possessing a penis or not .

We are only different, this is what is so exiting!

I dont know if the bible teaches it but I do remember that if Dad ever get home when mum saying a prayer before we eat he would chuck a teatowel over her head, or if she was conducting a bible study and he was present. I never understood why God would be happier with my mum wearing a teatowel!

My mom is a firm believer that women are to be subservient and "obedient" to their husbands. The funny thing is, she never practices what she preaches. She wears the pants and always has in our family. Partly because my father was never very good at being the head of the family, so my mom had to step up and do it. He was always off on some elders meeting thing, so she got used to having to take on both roles.

She has told me on many occasions that I am supposed to obey my hubby and he just laughs his head off. I mean I am NOT that type, though sometimes I wish maybe I was more subservient than such a control freak (my mom is a major control freak and has passed that crap on to me, lucky me, lucky hubby )

oops I forgot to comment on what I was really meaning to comment on and that was that my mom always covered her head when she prayed in front of any baptized male. She even does it now and she's been out of the truth for over 10 years now.

I knitted her a prayer shawl so that she would have something pretty to use when praying, instead of a pot holder, or whatever happened to be handy at the time.

I don't cover my head, I just don't do the praying. I have hubby do the praying, since he's the head of the household. He hates it cuz he never knows what to say and feels silly trying to fumble around for words. As you can see, we don't pray as a family that often. My parents never did either. We never prayed over dinner (unless it was a special dinner), we only did it if there were other witness friends visiting us, almost like a showy display of how good JWs we were. My dad was only good mr. elder when doing his duties. In his own home, he didn't act like one at all.

    Stop the pain,

Yes I chose to get pregnant just as you chose to do manual labor.

I think it's an honor to be woman and bear children, the expirience is wonderful and nothing in this world will ever compare.

My sister thought the same way. She wanted many children and had 4. She sacrificed a good career in order to stay home and be the mother of 4. She went against today's trend of finding a job and having the least children possible.

    JH,

I was the opposit, I never wanted kids, just the thought made me cringe, crying, diapers, breastfeeding, pregnancy, labor the whole thing.

So I worked made good $, traveled the world, got married, my hubby wanted kids, and I slowly warmed up to the idea, and I decided to do it. I would have liked to have waited another 2 years but oh well, I am very happy I did it, and I love my son more than anything in the world, I never realized that having kids could be so wonderful satisfying. I think all women should get to expirience everything that life has to offer, it makes you a better rounded person.

The bible (which at the end of the day was written by men) advocates that women should be in subjection to their husbands and this could leave the sexist male to conclude that he is superior; perhaps even this scripture was written by a sexist male? who knows?, subjection is subjective isnt it and to many different people will mean different things.

Its important to realise that we have the increased intelligence these days to realise that women are equal to men not subservient, not better, not superior but equal. Anything that supports such a view gets my show of hand.

I don't think the rules in the new testament show any contempt for women . Hey they pretty much get a free ride , no preaching involved , I mean what about adam who was cursed to work the ground with his hands and the sweat of his brow , how about a little compassion fo that ? Women were never instructed to work like a slave or become eunichs , yikes , somebody shoot me should that happen to me ............. The apostle paul said women were saved through faith , child bearing and sanctification .......... Well anyway in that case most of the women I've known in my life are going straight to hell ................. I digresss

There's conflicting viewpoints in the bible on this one..........Take for example, Abraham and Sarah. On one hand, she calls him "Lord", on the other hand, God tells Abraham to "listen to your wife". Jesus seemed to have a far more liberal view of women than his contemporaries.........the Apostle Paul on the other hand, was a male chauvenist pig.

There are women in the bible who were prophetesses and there's even the odd book in the bible named after a woman (Ruth, Esther).

On the whole though, the bible does strongly indicate that women are second class citizens. This is no doubt due to the culture they lived in. Let's face it: we've only had Women's Rights for about 30-35 years. All of mankinds history before that was male dominant so it really shouldn't surprise us to see that the way they viewed women back then was somewhat backwards.

So God created man in his own image,

    in the image of god,

    HE CREATED HIM

male and female he created THEM

We are BOTH the image of God. God is BOTH female and male, because if we are both created in his image, then he is BOTH, and l find it hard to believe that God says that he finds his creation disgusting.
