Waiting on Jehovah

There were so many times, when things didn't seem right in the organization or congregation, or when things weren't understood, you were informed : "Just wait on Jehovah, or in time Jehovah will make it right". My question becomes obscured with the fact that IF in fact the elders are appointed by Holy Spirit, he would also direct them to make the right decisions in behalf of his congregation right?

But if one of the elders felt he would be directed by God, and did things in behalf of his congregation, why would he be called on the carpet? My point in case is this; I was involved in a totally gone wrong abuse case. I informed the Society of the abuse, and received and answer, that I morally and personally couldn't follow. And so I did things in behalf of the victim and their family. And justice was served in the long run toward the abuser. He's now in jail. Later I posted an article with the silentlambs.

IF we were to 'wait on Jehovah' as the WT likes to put it, this man would still be in the organization, since he was reinstated after six months by his fellow elder friends. And he already had his eyes on other young sisters, soon after his reinstatement, and possibly commit another crime. Why is it not permissible to stand up for what is right, and in the long run get a slap in your face for being directed by God? I was under the impression that we were accountable to God, if we aware of a crime and didn't do something about it, in behalf of his sheep.

    HMMM....WAITING ON JEHOVAH let see.

Abel waited on Jehovah...no that's a bad example God warned Cain not to kill him but didn't warn Abel that Cain was going to kill him.

The people of Noahs day waited on Jehovah when his spirit sons came down and wreaked havoc on the earth...no that's no good he killed all of them.

Maybe those two don't count considering God didn't reveal his name Jehovah until Moses came along.

What about Abraham waiting on Jehovah to save Lot..no that's not right he gathered his own army and saved Lot.

What about Uzzah he should have waited on Jehovah to catch his own ark of the covenent.

Can't think of good example puternut

I can't count the amount of times that something didn't seem right and you always heard, WAIT on Jehovah.. things will be straightened out..

over and over we heard that.. I just didn't understand why sometimes it seemed like things didn't get straightened out...

of times nothing happened.. when something should have..

I remember when I found out my ex father in law had put my child who was 8 yrs old at the time in the trunk of his car when he got mad and drove down the highway with that child in there. Did anyone care in the congregation that he did that? He was an elder. He could do no wrong.. We finally reported him to social services.. I just got tired of always waiting for Jehovah to straighten things out........if it was supposed to be happening through the org.

    Isaiah 59:15-16

And Jehovah got to see, and it was bad in his eyes that there was no justice. 16 And when he saw that there was no man, he began to show himself astonished that there was no one interposing.

    Puternut,

You are a man of courage and integrity, a true seeker of truth.

I made a somewhat harsh statement to you a few days ago when I was not aware of your actions and in the light of what you've just told us I apologize.

    You asked,

Why is it not permissible to stand up for what is right, and in the long run get a slap in your face for being directed by God?

The answer to this is twofold:

    1. The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society has nothing to do with "righteousness."

    2. God is a sock puppet used by parasites to control others; you were directed by your individual judgement of what is good and fair, which was superior to theirs.

I wish you healing and strength.

You did the right thing by reporting it! I play professional golf and when I see an infraction, I report it. In golf when you cheat, you cheat your fellow competitors and yourself. A Jamaican official once said to his best freiend, ... "you can cheat, just don't get caught!" He did get caught and his cheating was aired on TV and was barred from competitive golf in three countries. Gold 'rules' are designed to help you, 'not' punish you. This golfer bastardized the rule and he got caught.

You did the right thing! No, Jehovah is waiting for YOU to report it. I'm talking about serious matters in the cong., not frivolous ones.

I have waited on god for my whole life.

Being sick of it now, I think that "god" won't mind if he does a little waiting now. It's his turn now. I know that he isn't coming anytime soon, so I'm not worried. If god wants to kill me for being a "sinner" then giver, god! I won't scurry about like a rat. Just kill me.

Waiting on Jehovah is highly overrated. When a cult gets ahold of that scripture, look out!

"Wait on Jehovah , he will sort out in his good time " is a standard cliche from the unofficial oral instruction to new elders,( as distinct from the official written book) to be used in all cases when an elder is aware of a wrong, but is either unable or unwilling, to stick his neck out and do something about it.. I have had it said to me on more than one occassion . One can also use "Perhaps he has put a slow angel onto the job" if said with a wry smile.. The admonition to "Pray about the matter " is to be used when all else has failed.

Serious matters such as you describe definately require action. I would like to add my admiration for your brave action.. One may conclude, that either 1] Jehovah's spirit was moving you to accomplish his will, or 2] That the whole concept of holy spirit being involved in these things is baloney and it depends on human perception and motivation.

I guess that is an open question

I am curious, if you wait on Jehovah, will he leave a good tip?
