Can You Defend Yourself before a J. Committee?

To those who have been before a Judicial Committee for Apostacy.
The elders will ask you questions not for the purpose of finding out the truth, but to make sure they can DF you.

At my appeal hearing serveral months ago I was questioned by the appeal committees to their satifaction, they even thanked me for my honesty, as it helped them get what they were looking for to make the original DFing stand.

After they were finished with their questions I ask if I could now defend myself and prove that I was telling the Truth and not a Biblical Apostate.
The chairman informed me that I would not be allowed to defend myself.
I looked at all 8 brothers(2 committees 5 & 3) in total amazement at his refusal to allow me to defend myself.
To them(8) it seem perfectly alright not to allow me to defend myself.
Wow.
The chairman said they really were not a Judicial court and did not need to be that concerned about doing things in harmony with what is concidered to be fair and right by worldly courts or the Bible. In fact the chairman spent about 10 minutes trying to explain why they didn't have have to be fair in the legalistic way of courts.

If someone lived a trillion X longer than you, and had a billion X more reasoning ability would he come to the same conclusions as you?

Their response is no surprise at all. You're right. They were merely there to find enough evidence to convict you of apostasy and get rid of you. Justice is not one of the purposes of a JW judicial committee. Getting rid of troublemakers is.

Eight brothers! I'm impressed. You must have created quite a stir. Can I assume this was an appeal committee you were appearing before??

I recall when you mentioned that you were going to appear before them and my only question was Why?

1. did you just want to mess with the guys and used up one of thier off nights

or

2. you actually thought that you would get to say something

if it was for the first then - you met your goal, but if it was for the second to try and "SAY" something well you saw what happened

while i would never tell anyone not to go before a committee- i would only asked them to ck to see what thier reason is-

anyone and i mean anyone on this site or any other site who thinks that they are going to "Prove" a point is wasting thier own time

i realize that for some they feel a sense of closure but one must ask why do i need to meet with "Mo, Larry and Curly"

think about it if you had a problem on your job and you wanted to give them a pc of your mind would you want to meet with the CEO, CIO, and Chairman or the Boys in the mailroom

and in my view the avg jw who appears before a judical committee will be getting the Boys in the Mailroom- you will not be in the Boardroom

personally i would have recommended you to have taken your wife out to a nice steak dinner and came home and made LOve instead of speading 2-3 hours with a group of guys who are no more thans a COG IN THE WT WHEEL

My condolences. I understand your feeling. But even if you were allowed to make a full defence, the result would be the same, it would just take them longer. They knew that. I speak from experience.

Not 'in harmony with what is concidered to be fair and right by worldly courts or the Bible.' Their god is much worse than the us justice system, or the bible god.

Both 1 and 2.
I was messing with them, and was trying to say something.
I knew that things would turn out exactly as they turned out.
I thought it would be good to go thru the experience, that way I could be an eyewitness of stupidity and may use it in the future.

I also think there must be some among the 8 elders that don't feel as confident about their being the one true religion any more.

There are many more reasons for doing what I did which I don't feel compelled to explain now.
I realize that you feel strongly about letting elders get you to go before their committees and can understand where you are comming from.
We are all different and have what we ourselves concider good reason for what we do even though others may not.
Who is to say which is right.

I was going to ask you to appeal again, but I guess they did disfellowship you already in the meantime. I believe you can appeal many times over but I do not know exactly how many times you are allowed to. I myself appealed twice and it was the same verdict: guilty (or not repentent)!
You are so correct in saying that they just want to prove their point in front of others in that they can nail you shut and declare you guilty... Very rarely has the appeal system born fruits for the "guilty" one. you see, they allow you to appeal because that's the "democratic" way to do (as it is done in the worldly court system), yet when you show a desire to defend yourself, you are forbidden to exercise that right...sounds very ambiguous to me!
As you said, they are not there to help you but to disfellowship you!
This way they believe that they accomplished something by "cleaning" out the congregation. How sad they do not realize that they themselves should be the very ones to be reprimanded and rebuked for their Pharisaical attitude full of coldness and lack of love.....

I can relate to both your approach and JT's.

Being df'd for the big 'A' is a badge of courage in my opinion. Why not go and see first hand, how unbending and unjust their method's are. It's one thing for a r&f publisher to get all glassy eyed and foggy, at the mere mention of 'questioning the organization' but for the so called 'shepherds taking the lead' to react like the average jdumb is very revealing, to say the least.

Even the 'spirit appointed' overseer's apparently do not have enough faith, protection of god's spirit, to withstand a question or two as regards their own teaching's.

Reports like yours, continue to ratify my conclusions about the WTBS, they are a man-inspired, man worshiping, mind warping CULT. All wrapped in a pretty bow of 'Jehovah's'(ancient Hebrew god) promise of 'everlasting life'. What they fail to realize is almost every god ever invented by man, has promised the same thing, in one way or another, just different spin's on the concept.

Glad you were able to report just one more nail to add in their decaying coffin.

One against eight...they would not let you tell your story...sounds like the cowardly bastards they are!!!
