It was on another thread (jwfacts' one about his JC meeting) that I posted a personal experience and it occurred to me, that although it is well behind me and I don't dwell on it (much!), it may be of some help to those who visit here and are unsure what they think about their JW beliefs.

    I wrote:

Mrs Ozzie and I agreed to have a representative from Bethel come to visit us as a friend.

(This was a compromise because we refused to meet with a judicial committee, believing that just as we had long ago ceased having anything to do with them, likewise they had nothing to do with me.)

It was the most dismal affair. We are generally good-natured and I believe this was taken advantage of; in fact, we spent the whole afternoon being ridiculed in our own home! Never again! I acquiesced simply because the man was a friend but no longer!

I think I've mentioned to you that as he left, he turned to us and said, "And don't forget, we've got your children!" !!!

Let all lurkers be well advised, this (the WTS) is an Evil Empire, Satanic even, stopping at nothing to control its interests and its people. BE WARNED!!

Am I serious? You bet your life I am! They were the exact words and actually they were correct, they (I'm talking about Bethel here) took at least one of my children and were happy that they had her secreted away from their parents. We didn't know where she was for two years! Evil bastards!

All in the name of their Jehovah ("Organisation"). Graciously the real Savior has shown us where true love lies, it certainly is far removed from the WTS.

I hope our welcome lurkers on JWD take heed of this experience.

"And don't forget, we've got your children!" !!!

Holy sh't !!!! Too bad you don't have that on tape, Ozzie.

You should bring this post up every month. If this doesn't show everyone that the Watchtower is a cult, nothing will.

I'm just so glad that you were eventually able to locate your daughter.

A shining example of the true nature of this organisation.

    hubert and stilla:

in a macabre sense, they did us a favor! Ya see they are the very last words I heard from the Borg. Those words are my lasting memory of the WTS.

How would anyone in their right mind even think of returning to that?

Reading those words sent chills up my spine. I am so sorry that you had to go through such an awful experience.

"And don't forget, we've got your children!" !!!

Whoa, it had to be really creepy to hear that!! I'm reminded of the Wicked Witch of the West in "The Wizard of Oz":

"I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too!!"

Who do these people think they are, anyway?? Seriously, that sounds like a threat to me. Since when does a group claiming to have the Word of God threaten people?? Oh wait, that's one of the WTS's main functions, threatening its members and keeping them in line with fear tactics.

Hey, would it be possible to charge the JW who says something like that with uttering threats?? I would classify that as a threat. If anyone else said that, it would be perceived as a threat and/or a hostage situation, kinda like a, "We have your children, do what we say or else" situation like you see in the movies.

I'm not a member of the WTS, nor have I ever been, and I certainly never will be, but it's stuff like that that really frightens me. It's hard to believe that a group with so many members - over 6 million - can get away with saying things like that, not to mention the other practices and regulations that kill JWs on a regular basis.

No wonder my mother keeps telling me to break up with my JW boyfriend - these people are seriously SCARY!!

So much for being "footstep followers of Jesus", eh? I can't imagine him saying something like that. Bastards!

It's amazing more of them don't get beaten up.
