Hi, newbie here. I'm a "liberal" JW (please don't hold that against me ), hanging out on the fringes of my congregation. I've been lurking here for a year, and since lightning hasn't struck me dead-yet- decided to register. I'm a single parent, early forties and female. As you may guess, I'm ignored in the congregation. Given my doubts, that's a good thing. I've been experiencing cognitive dissonance in many areas of my life, and have developed some coping skills, so things I hear at the KH don't bother me too much. I'm appalled at the treatment some of you have experienced at the hands of JWs. My experiences pale in comparison and helps me put things in perspective. I'm starting a spiritual journey, and I don't know where it will take me, but I find that oddly invigorating. I've been impressed by the knowledge on this board as well as by the heart. I think this will be an interesting experience, one that can't be had at the KH.

    peace and love to all....

Hi Serendipity. Welcome to the board. I'm glad you decided to post. We lurked here for about a year before we registered too. But we lurked another year before we got up the nerve to post.

You're right. It's an exciting journey ahead of you. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. We faded about 14 years ago and we're very happy.

A very warm WELCOME to you Serendipity , I hope you enjoy your stay here, I certainly am.

I began my journey over 9 mos ago, and what a journey it's been, you are in for a ride, but I'm loving it, I've learned more in those 9 mos than in all my 30 years in the WTS, the joy and freedom is great, but prepare yourself there will be also some moments of turmoil, it's hard letting go ideas that have been so closely held for so long, but then comes the tremendous sense of wonder and excitement at your new found freedom. My family and I still attend the meetings here and there, but I cannot bring myself to preach this stuff, as I no longer believe it.

Read, read, read, there's great information here, there's great people that have been where you are and will be here for you should you need them.

    Enjoy!

    WELCOME!!!

Glad you worked up the courage to post. Like it says at the top of this page "everyone welcome". So regardless of your 'status' amongst the JW's everyone is welcome to express their opinions here.

I can't imagine how hard it must be for you as a single mum. My mother took 3 of us kids to meetings and that was hard enough. The status of having an unbelieving father/husband. But at least she had some support from dad at home. I wish you all the best on your journey. Don't try to force yourself into any set of beliefs etc. Just follow your instinct. Ask Questions and research and let it come naturally.

    Welcome Serendipity,

I'm new here also. This is a great place to post and chat. How old is your child? I have two children and I'm trying to figure out how to "un"doctrinate them now. Was wondering if that is an issue for you also. Glad to have here, I've enjoyed my stay here greatly!
