What the heck? Harrassing emails from a POSTER!

I just read an email recieved from "Bajarama" that basically included the same content on a recent post he made. In a nutshell, if you haven't bothered to read it, it attacks my personal political beliefs, bitches about "waving the red flag of communism in his face" and that I needed to get out of the country and he would be happy to supply me with maps to direct to other "socialist" countries(e.g. China, Cuba, etc.). I don't have a problem with a person making a post to address his/her problems with my beliefs. But don't take the time to email it to me also. My own philosophy may influence my response to many of the threads, but I've never pushed it on anyone. I take it "Baja" didn't have the balls to send the same email to Simon(afterall, he does have Che on his profile pic). But hey, water under the bridge. Unlike some, I completely respect the views of others and actually prefer a bit of variety on the board and so on. So, to the rest of my true friends here, I love you all and won't let this asshole scare me off. And hell, why not end on this note again:

Interesting that many confuse "Socialism" with "Communism".

Which famous writer / reporter was it that was slammed for supporting workers rights and socialist issues but denouncing communism? I can't remember off hand.

Ahhhhhh Simon, I can't remember off the top of my head who that was. Was it George Orwell? I remember he was obvisouly against a totalitarian state but supported socialist principles. You find that with many intellectuals; people like Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn(known anarchists)will bash both fascism AND, say, Stalinism. That was one of my problems with this 'tard's email. Like many of the hard-liner, conservative Republicans I face here in the south, all leftists are being clumped together as "communists". I am not a communist, nor do I agree with Marx's assumption that a "dictatorship of the proletariat" is a lesser evil. I don't believe in a central power, regardless of who's in charge. I feel all power (if any) should come from the ground up(workers, etc.). Labeling us all as "communists" is very simplistic and child-like. Hell, some of my views can be found in some Republicans(i.e. against "gun control", privacy issues, etc.). So come on! Lay off the generalizations.

    DanielH,
Well my goodness a fellow southerner. Mainly what I know about southern politics is Texan politics. And until very recently most Texans were democrats. Of course, we are also Libertarians and Republicans and Independents. Texans who I speak to daily would consider the Libertarian Party except they refuse to be atheists. Anyway political parties are by nature their own excuse for discussion. And whatever the forum we/re involved in it should always have some of that Socratic flavor which original democratic debates exhibited.

LOL @ Steph...And I agree with you Panda, things should be on open discussion (cordial, I hope!). I'm interested in everyone's ideas. You mention libertariansim; I've always respected the Libertarian party especially when it somes to their social liberalism(although don't particularly care for their fiscal ideas, for obvious reasons). You guys kick ass. Now this is the way to do things.
