okay so i've just found a scripture that totally condraticts what the jws preach and also a lot of equality laws.. proverbs 22:29 talks about if a man is skilled enough in his trade then he will no longer need to slave for the common people, he can serve kings.. so the bible is telling jws and christians to pursue their secular work and time so they need no longer "slave" for the working classes.
not only does this reinforce capitalism but it also goes against putting jehovah first and his workship.. i don't get it!!!.
i thought jws were supposed to treat everyone the same.
No offence Doug but I can tell you've not been a JW.
The JWs don't think about contextualising scriptures historically or politically. They literally just pull out a random scripture to prove the random point they're making at that time in the talk, or the ministry.
And when this scripture is used as an argument against the JWs they cannot answer a lot of the questions or points that apostates make.
i don't wish to offend any that are teaching their kids at home, but today i was again confronted by a situation where a jw family were home schooling.
the kids had little structure to their routine and without putting the mum down, she was no teacher in an academic sense.. the subject is close to my heart because my parents who are witnesses, took my younger brothers out of school and home tutored them.
the were subjected to below standard education and limited in social skills, particularly as my parents are crap at these skills themselves.. i have grown to hate home schooling except in the situation of medical or logistical situations.. what are your comments good or bad and do you think the option to home school is abused by the witness community?.
I was taught at home along with my brother. It was my idea for it to happen because I begged my mum to take me out of school because I was constantly being offered cigarettes and being invited to birthday parties and my poor little brainwashed mind, at 11 years old, couldn't handle it.
So we joined up with the other, millions, of JWs teaching their kids at home and went on various educational outings and it was really fun. But I totally understand why it's a bad thing in terms of our education about life.
I thought, up until a year ago, I'm 21 now, that India was in Africa, and I still believed that the humans have only been on the Earth for 6,000 years.
So I still struggle with general knowledge especially with history, science and geography.

I thought JWs were supposed to treat everyone the same. Like Jesus apparently did. Wasn't Jesus all about serving the lowly and the humble. There are other scriptures that back this up, e.g. the woman who gave her last two coins as opposed to the pharasees who gave their surplus.
How do JWs explain this?
this was a favorite way of getting away from the very unloving "loving brothers and sisters".
hide in the toilets, no one can collar you and tell you off.
and even better you won't be in amongst a group of people but still feeling so alone... at least you will actauly be alone!.
I used to do exactly the same, and thought I had the best idea doing it, until I found all the other wrestless, bored young girls in the toilet too. I was fortunate to have a younger brother with me so I tended to play with him after the meeting when we were little, or go in the car and wait for our parents so we didn't have to socialise. I hated it when Luke was ill and left me to go to the meeting on my own :(
I was really good for the first 15 years of my life as a JW but then I thought this is a load of rubbish and started to act up a bit, then left and am very naughty, drugs, politics, lesbians....it's great :D
new songbook - removing all the old teachings and anything saying new world or new order.
no more bookstudies - (so no small indepedent comments, only brief congregationwide so not much discussion).
bible reading talk can 'read' only, no introduction or conclusion - again not allowing any input or thought.

i haven't posted for a few weeks because i've been too busy embracing the awesomeness of christmas and new year and my 21st birthday!.
christmas was immense, i spent it with my partner and we had tofurkey (vegetarians .
so when i got back to work, just when i thought all the celebrations were over, colleagues remembered that it was my 21st on the 5th jan and bought my first ever birthday cake!

i finally went out on a 'ministry' work.
with a bit of help, i took all of my anti witness leaflets and put them through the doors of as many witnesses as i could in a 2hour time period.
it was the easiest and most exhilirating thing i've ever done.

Christmas was immense, I spent it with my partner and we had Tofurkey (vegetarians ) and the presents I got were awesome. Some were encyclopedias because I've never known about evolution or that the earth has exisited for longer than 6,000 years. And then for New Year I visited my fellow apostate sister in Bristol where we were surrounded by copious amounts of weed and alcohol (exactly what JWs depict a party to be) and I loved it!
So when I got back to work, just when I thought all the celebrations were over, colleagues remembered that it was my 21st on the 5th Jan and bought my first ever birthday cake! I wanted to cry, I was so overwhelmed by the wine and gifts I got. I have a meal/party organised for Friday and I can't fucking wait!!!
