Indictment of Christianity
by gravedancer intaken from the writing of george smith:.
christianity cannot erase man's need for pleasure, nor can it eradicate the various sources of pleasure.
what it can do, however, and what it has been extremely effective in accomplishing, is to inculcate guilt in connection with pleasure.

1. how long will it be before the jw's disappear?
how do you see that occurring?.

evolution is widely regarded as a progressive force thrusting inexorably towards racial improvement, which may be seen as offering some tangible hope for our troubled species.

Ordered Complexity necessitates Design
by gravedancer injust a short question which probably was raised before.. the favorite argument of creationists: since there is such abundant complexity in the world around us and within us - doesn't this point point to design and therefore a designer (i.e.
god)?.
much info abounds on both sides of the answers to the question.

Power of Prayer
by gravedancer ina very religious man lived right next door to an atheist.
while the religious one prayed day in, day out, and was constantly on his knees in communion with his lord, the atheist never even looked twice at a church.. the atheist's life was good, he had a well-paying job and a beautiful wife, and his children were healthy and good-natured, whereas the pious man's job was strenuous and his wages were low, his wife was getting fatter every day and his kids wouldn't give him the time of the day.. so one day, deep in prayer, the religious man raised his eyes towards heaven and asked, "oh god, i honor you every day, i ask your advice for every problem and confess to you my every sin.
yet my neighbor, who doesn't even believe in you and certainly never prays, seems blessed with every happiness, while i go poor and suffer many an indignity.

Freewill - a paradox
by gravedancer ini have had a couple of discussions about freewill lately but it seems as if i am talking to a brick wall.
here is my basic reasoning, perhaps you can point out what i am missing.. lets outline the 2 common assumptions normally associated with the debate concerning adam, god and freewill:.
2. god gave adam freewill to obey him or not to.
