Presumptuous?
by Tornintwo ini know this is old news, but just found this priceless quote on jwfacts from 2001 watchtower (yes 2001 not 1941!!!
) looks like geoffrey jackson never read this one:.
"is it presumptuous of jehovah's witnesses to point out that they alone have god's backing?

Effect on youths of Bethel and construction cuts
by Tornintwo ini know quite a few youths (late teens to early twenties) who have the goal of full time service, as bethelites or international construction, so they're doing the required slog of pioneering in order to achieve this goal.
this is a goal which has been excitedly set out for them the last few years or so at assemblies etc.
now they see the cuts, surely they are going to be discouraged and disillusioned.

Extreme emotions re today's watchtower
by Tornintwo ini was supposed to attend the meeting today, one of my once a month duties for the sake of my family and my fade.
i read the wt and i just can't stomach going.... what this wt does is again and again reiterate that only jws will survive the coming destruction and that they should be happy about this and raise ourselves erect...eg:.
we cannot expect that many people will suddenly convert to true christianity.

Independent article: Spiritual abuse
by Tornintwo ini've been reading about different types of emotional abuse to help me define and cope with my difficult marriage, came across this article : 7 ways a person can be abused, by a psychologist.
http://pro.psychcentral.com/exhausted-woman/2015/08/7-ways-a-person-can-be-abused/.
includes forms of 'spiritual abuse' - these sound familiar?.

Transcripts up for day 4
by Tornintwo inthe transcripts are up for day 4 on the royal commission website .
://www.childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au/downloadfile.ashx?guid=a0d021ee-d621-45fb-8a81-0ce785d45472&type=transcriptpdf&filename=transcript-(day-150)&fileextension=pdf.
find it easier than watching the whole thing through because you can skim over the boring bits and because i can read discreetly away from uber-dub hubbie, but i do watch parts to get an impression of the witness and see the most excellent mr stewart in action!

Love and forgiveness....
by Tornintwo ini've been musing a lot about the 'love' that exists in the organisation.
what i've noticed over the last 20 odd years is that an overemphasis on the requirement for forgiveness by those who have been wronged.
of course as christians we should forgive eachother, but i'm talking about obvious abusive and bullying behaviour by 'prominent' ones, which is excused by the ageold 'we are all imperfect'..... 'its an organisation of imperfect men....', you should forgive.....and quickly dismissed.

Preach, preach, preach....feel guilty...preach some more
by Tornintwo insince starting to wake up, i can't help notice how so many talks emphasise preaching, increasing your hours, pioneering etc...with a hefty load of guilt on the side.. i always noticed the guilt, but now i'm noticing how talks that seem to start out on another issue always seem to come back to hours!
visit talk seemed to start out about persecution, trusting in jehovah etc...but the main thrust in the end was, 'do more hours, pioneer, don't get an education or pursue a career, don't get distracted, hooray for the pioneers!
if you dont do more hours you will be 'the sort that shrink back to destruction'.

The brutal reality of JW teachings
by Tornintwo inthese stats have just blown my mind, thought they might help another doubter too.. according to 2015 yearbook says 755 baptized daily, wow, sounds impressive right?.
but the world population grows by 228,000 every day.
(that's after deaths taken into,account).

What's worse, brutal murder or fornication?
by Tornintwo injust to give you a bit of background, i've been researching my doubts for over a month, i'm convinced that although they may have some things right, they have a lot of other things horribly wrong.
i'm still clinging to a faith in god, because i see a creator's hand in nature, and i believe in jesus and his teachings, love, mercy, compassion.....that if everyone truly applied these (including jws) then all would benefit.. but i read this article in march and it's been on my mind ever since.
where isis stone a young couple to death for sex before marriage (a bit graphic).. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3017800/sickening-images-blindfolded-bound-couple-brutally-stoned-death-fornication-isis-militants-iraq.html.
