Mother, wife, myself, DA'ing ourselves
by ashitaka inwell, i've finally had it.
i'm da'ing myself, along with a piece of my fam.
the unbaptised ones are refusing to go with my father now, and even my still devout father is leaning towards our opinion on things.. there wasn't even any screaming when i called the jw's the great hypocrisy last nite.. i just can allow myself to be associated with them in any way.

Open Letter To Jehovah's Witnesses
by Outaservice inyou may not remember, but i know you very well.
i met you a long time ago when you came to my house with your smiling faces, your neat clothes, and your soft voices, and a bible tucked neatly under your arm.
you told me many beautiful stories of a "paradise earth," and a "righteous new system" which would be established shortly.

Condemned By Their Own Words
by worf ini posted this on the old h2o board and i am posting it here especially for those who are still inside the wts and for those lurking here who may now be questioning the wts.. this taken from the watchtower bound volume of 1962 pages 112-114.. this article gives the bible account of 1 kings 13:1-28 in paragraphs 10-14. i will not quote the entire passage here because of its length but i suggest you read it when you have the chance.. the information presented in this article definitely contains the usual wts contradictions but this article is proof that any jw is not obligated to obey anything said by the wts whether the so-called direction comes from an elder, ministerial servant, co, do, city overseer, or gb member.. here are some of the exact words from this watchtower article under the subheading "avoiding presumptuous acts" :"what does the christian learn from this?
to be constant in faultless walking in jehovah's eye's, always seek his direction, especially at perplexing moments in life.
never push ahead presumptuously either on our own ideas or upon the urgings of someone else, even though that person may occupy a responsible position in god's organization.

Tell Old School Friends That You've Left?
by Englishman insome of the uk national newspapers have been referring to the web-site at http://friendsreunited.co.uk/, where thousands and thousands of brits have been getting back in touch with old school friends.. just out of curiosity i decided to take a peek.
well, i was stunned.
many long-forgotten class-mates had my mind leaping back to the early 60s, particularly when they mentioned the weird nicknames that we had given to our teachers.. the french master, froggy fleuriot, mousy mclaughlan with his rats teeth, bummer burrell well, i will leave that one to your imagination.

1000 year reign already started.
by avengers in*** w68 8/15 499 why are you looking forward to 1975?
30 are we to assume from this study that the battle of armageddon will be all over by the autumn of 1975, and the long-looked-for thousand-year reign of christ will begin by then?
possibly, but we wait to see how closely the seventh thousand-year period of man's existence coincides with the sabbathlike thousand-year reign of christ.

Is praying good for you?
by sleepy inwhen in the "truth" most of us used to pray.. i used to pray for help in doing things , say give a talk , and would ask for holy spirit .i felt i needed it to give a talk well.. but was it all just a placebo effect.. did the belief that i was getting help cause me to become more confident because i though god was helping me?.
as time went on in the truth i felt as if prayer was just talking to your self.in fact i found it embarissing to give prayers in public as i felt silly talking to an invisible creature.. but in the night i would prayer and maybe go over the days events , think about new things coming up , other people and life in general.. is this benifical to a person?.
in doing this we are meditating on events we would not otherwise think deaply about , this can help us think of solutions to problems or put things in perspective.. how often would we review events if we didnt pray.. now i doubt that we are conversing with god , but i think to "pray" or go over events in your mind maybe once a day or whatever, is good for your well being and can help you with lifes problems.. although not getting help from another creature we as humans need to meditate in order to make good decisions.. the placebo effect doesn't seem to work anymore and i rely on myself and my experience to help me do difficult tasks.. but when something really big comes up i admit i still say a little prayer.
