What God has yoked together, let no man put asunder
by JustTickledPink inin some religious marriage ceremonies, they recite the scripture,.
"let the two become one flesh, what god has yoked together let no man put asunder".
i was thinking of the terry shaivo case today and thinking if you take marriage vows seriously then your spouse always would have guardianship and rights to you considering you both are one flesh.. how can you reconcile honoring those vows and trying to dissolve "what god has yoked together".

JWs mentioned on MSNBC commentary
by JustTickledPink inhttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7289351/
msnbc online has an article written by arthur caplan, ph.d. it's pretty good actually, page 2 he writes, and yes, we heard from the vatican about its thoughts concerning schiavo.
but where are the christian scientists, the jehovah?s witnesses and the fundamentalist protestants who turn to prayer to express their views on the right to refuse any and all medical care including a feeding tube?

Should they "pay" for believing all these years?
by JustTickledPink ini finally started reading ray franz book and was reading the part how he ends up with little to no money, buying a trailer in ms. i thought about my own mother, who sacrificed a lot in the name of the "truth" meaning she only worked part time jobs so that she could pioneer, she didn't accumulate money or buy herself a nice house, she continued to believe and still does that armeggedon is around the corner.. some of these people have literally sacrificed their whole lives.
at this point they may or may not come to the realization that armeggedon isn't coming.
whether they are still waiting for it or not, many of them have gotten old and they may not have paid a lot into social security, they may have a very limited income, may live in trailers or whatever.

Starbucks and Subway in church!!!!
by JustTickledPink inmy husband went to church in tn a few years back with a friend for easter and told me they had a starbucks inside the church.
it was just like barnes and noble or the local target now, have their own starbucks.
so i found this article in the christian science monitor and it says there are churchs with subway franchises in them... i think that is hilarious.. http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/1229/p01s04-ussc.html.

Who remembers "Welcome to the Great Crowd" ?
by JustTickledPink in.
i was baptized in 1986 at the tender age of 11 yoa, but i remember after sitting through that stupid talk (where i almost fell asleep, no kidding) and then prayer, then getting dunked, then they announced a welcome to all newly baptized people and said "welcome to the great crowd" .
it's so weird remembering that specifically.. now i think, welcome to the great dwindling crowd of duped people not going anywhere.

Paradise = Fountain of youth
by JustTickledPink in.
i realized today that jws aren't unique, almost everyone is searching for the fountain of youth.
there are more plastic surgeons and medicines and elixers, drugs, herbalists, and religious nuts all promising the same thing.... youth..

What if "the end" happens in 2150?
by JustTickledPink injust a question.... what if the wts came out with a for sure prediction based on new light that without a doubt armeggedon will be here in 2150?
well, that means that our generation will all die, but we can hope for a resurrection and we have to continue to preach and our grandchildren or great-grandchildren might actually be the ones to walk through the "end" into their "new system"
the question is how many jw's would there be?

The actual turning point -- where you regain your own power
by JustTickledPink ini have done a lot of thinking about what it's like to actually believe the wts has "the truth" and what it felt like to be immersed in the religion and i finally figured out the exact turning point a person has to get to, that allows a person to let go of it all.. it doesn't matter what scandals you read about, what sort of a victim you were to the society, it doesn't even matter if you quit attending meetings years ago.
there comes a day when you finally realize inside your heart and throughout your mind that it's just a religion.
not "the truth," not "inspired by jehovah god," but in fact just a religion.. i started thinking about it in terms of a profession.

The idea of perfection and living forever
by JustTickledPink inthis past year i turned 30, my father in law is visiting and he's turning 62 tomorrow so i'm baking him a cake.
i have been thinking about aging and how it seems very normal to me.
if adam and eve sinned and no longer were going to live forever, how come there aren't plants and animals that were also living forever.
